Raymond D. - Cascade Division Prayers

Good Evening Everyone,

Here’s hoping you have had a good Saturday that is (at least) beginning to wind down so that you can get some rest and prepare your heart and mind for Sunday. I’m looking forward to the morning worship service and hope you are too, whether you are leading, participating, or joining in.

Tonight, we lift up the Pendleton Corps, lead by Majors DeWayne and Toni Halstad, who have been in the EDS mode almost constantly since 2020 began. Here is a note from Major Toni:

Here in Pendleton, we had a flood right after Christmas and we immediately went into disaster services as a result. After the flood and that relief was over, we had only a short breather before the Pandemic hit and we were back in disaster services again. Our feeding program, over the last several months has gone from feeding 40-60 a day to on most days well over 100. We have had a tremendous increase in support from community members that want to help. Almost daily we are receiving food donations from donors. One couple buys bread and rolls from the local bakery and brings them to us every Monday and Wednesday. Another lady comes at least once a week and asks us for a “list” of things we need then she goes and gets them. Also, the High School Honor Society has started a food drive for us, and we have received many pounds of food from them. Monetary donations have picked up as well. We have had donors come in with donations that we normally do not see. But the biggest blessing came yesterday when EFSP granted us $25,000 for our feeding program. We were blown away when we were told we would receive our full request of $25,000. We believe this is because the community has noticed what we do, and they are getting behind us and we are grateful. God is good and is blessing the Pendleton Corps.

Matthew 25:40 tells us, “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”

Let’s pray,

Lord, we love you and praise your name. Thank you for this day and what you have provided us to answer your call on our lives. Thank you for the people we have met on today’s journey and the opportunity to present you to them. Thank you for the resources you have provided to serve you and them both.

This evening we lift up the Pendleton Corps led by Majors Dwayne and Toni Halstad. We ask your continued blessing on the work they do, the service they provide to their neighbors, and they love they have for you. They’ve been working hard helping other during the flooding and now during this pandemic, so we ask that you provide them and those that support them the chance for good rest to renew their bodies, minds, and souls. Lord, thank you for their willingness to answer the call you have given them.

Lord, thank you for the call you have placed on all the officers, employees, volunteers, and donor throughout the Cascade Division. Please walk with them during this time of virus. Keep them safe and healthy. Thank you for their commitment to you. Let them find the rest they need. We ask all these things in your name.

Amen.
