Colleen R. - Call to Prayer

Dear Friends,

Beginning this first Wednesday of September, the 7th, we will have a Territorial Day of Prayer and Fasting. On the first Wednesday of each month, we will be calling the Territory to prayer and fasting with a focused area of prayer throughout the year.

Each month, you will receive a note of encouragement to share with your congregation and with those you share ministry. Fasting looks different for different individuals. Perhaps you are unable to fast from food. But you can fast from other things; electronics, social media, etc., whatever it is that takes your focus from prayer and time with God.

There is power in prayer. There is power in praying together for the same focus. This month we will be fasting and praying for REVIVAL In His Church, in this Western Territory! We believe that God wants revival in the hearts of all believers and that men and women, and boys and girls need Jesus more than ever. You and I need Jesus more than ever. Let’s pray together for spiritual revival in The Salvation Army and in the Western Territory.

As the date gets closer, I will share a few ideas and helps on fasting, should you need it to share with your congregations.

Thank you for being in this together. God is alive and well! We can’t wait to see what He will do in and through the faithfulness of His children as we lift our hearts and prayers to God.

Please feel free to be in contact with me, should you have any questions.

Blessings,

Colleen

My Grandmother - Mona B. Golden passed away this morning shortly after I arrived in from Southern California. To be absent of the body is to be present with the Lord and I am grateful that she is with her mother and my grandfather free of pain. Prayers are appreciated for our family at this time.

Rachel J. - Health / Pain

I can not seem to catch a break. If you have been seeing my post, you know that I am struggling with pain and many other physical issues. After my last post I needed to go to the ER that night. The pain was so unbearable even for me. The ER doc thinks I have a bulging disc in my lower back near the failing discs. A little relief from medicine and a few hours of sleep later that morning, I was managing. Last night one of my dogs caused me to fall into a wooden counter. My back snapped causing an instant migraine, my knees buckled slamming into the ground, and my wrists and hands slammed into the counter.  I missed the counter by an inch with face.  I wasn’t sure I hadn’t hit my face because the instant headache made my left eye feeling like it had been hit and it felt like it was about to explode.  In addition to the previous pain I already had been experiencing before the fall, I also had swelling in my legs and new unexplained bruising.  Despite all this and not sleeping again due to pain I had let myself have hope for today.  I was driving the 2 1/2 to 3 hours from camp (as our quarters are still not ready) back to Bend to see a new Rheumatologist that had been scheduled before moves came out in may (yes, it was that long before she had new patient appointments).  I arrived, met with her, and instead of any kind of plan she has passed me off to someone else.  So no test to see what my system is currently doing, no new meds, no suggested treatments, instead a referral and another wait. I am so tired of waiting as I only get worse and I get no relief.  This is why I am pretty sure that these Dr.s have not experienced or understand how bad it is, because if they did there may be some urgency and someone fighting to make it better. I say this because I also saw a Neurosurgeon recently with similar results.  No matter why I have been passed on to someone else I often hear from doctors that they don’t know what else I should do as I wait.  I am so exhausted mentally and physically.  I have tried anything over the counter stuff I can, I am am trying and have tried homeopathic meds and suggested things.  Because of our current living situation I am also having to go alone to see these last 2 doctors and have no one to fight for me (Mike has had no option to be able to be there.  I know he would if he could). I try to speak up for myself, but only hear the I don’t know.  And now here I sit in a parking lot in pain, so exhausted mentally, so tired physically 😴, alone, waiting for another referral, upset and losing hope.  I know this post is long but maybe you can pray for something specifically.  I don’t want to have to live at the ER but I am running out of options...

Darlene R. - Son Steve

Prayer warriors and friends won’t you join us in our petitions as we lift our son Steve in prayer.
Lord we pray that as Steve goes through tough times that You will be his defender.  I pray that he will learn to look to You to be his help.  The enemy’s strength is nothing in light of Your great power.  We pray that he will learn to cry out to You in his trouble so that You will deliver him out of his distresses.  No matter what happens, we pray Steve will ultimately be able to say “This was the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in my eyes”. Help Steve to understand that he can lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone O Lord make him dwell in safety. We ask you give him comfort and draw near to his heart this night and the days ahead.
In Christ alone we pray and give thanks.  Amen
Psalm 18:2
The Lord is Steve’s rock and his fortress and his deliverer,  God is Steve’s strength in whom he can trust; Steve’s shield and his salvation; his stronghold.

Christa S. - Dad's Health

I wasn't sure whether to share, but figured we could use all the prayers and support we can gather... My father took a fall from about 6 feet yesterday and landed on his head and has fractured his spine. He is in the ICU in St.John's Newfoundland, Canada. They are doing surgery this morning in a couple hours. The difficulty right now is he has no feeling from his nipples down. Our prayer is that after the surgery his spine will not be as compressed and it will help with the paralysis.πŸ™Thank you so much for your prayers and support.❤️

Rahman R. - And Family

Rahmat Rostamipour (pictured) knew his family's decision to leave Islam and follow Jesus was a risk in Iran. But for them, it was a risk worth taking.

On the day after Easter, that risk became reality. The morning of April
18 at 8 am, a dozen officers in plain clothes showed up at their home in Anzali and took the family's Bibles, phones, ID cards, books and even their children's school tablets.

And then they arrested Rahmat and drove him away in a convoy of four cars,

Rahmat's wife was also targeted for arrest but when the raid caused a panic attack in their14-year-old daughter, his wife was left back.

Pray with us for Rahmat and this traumatized family—Iran shows no sign of stopping the arrests and imprisonments of Christians.

Rachel J. - Health/Surgery

Hi Friends.  Mike Johnson and I are asking for you to cover us in prayer this week.  We waited until his pre-op appointment today, due to covid already delaying it, but Mike will be having hernia surgery early Wednesday morning.  This will be a challenging surgery as it is a hernia that they have already tried to repair twice.  The doctor is trying to do it laparoscopically, but there is a high possibility that she may have to open him up completely.  She is one of the top doctors for hernia repairs in Oregon.  We also know that both Mike and I are in God’s hands, but it will be even more comforting to know that you are praying in support.  I am not the one having surgery, but would you please pray for me as my wife brain has to sit there alone due to covid.  I am thankful that I at least get to go back with him during pre-op. Please pray for his recovery as well.  Thank you in advance for the prayers and I will try to keep people updated as I am able.

Donnie R. - Health

Hello Facebook family! As some of you may recall, back in January I posted about having surgery to deal with a stage 3 cancer diagnosis I received back in 2021.  And while it has been a very rough road these past few months (2 rounds of chemo regimens, radiation, kidney stones, liver trouble, a 2.5 foot long blood clot in my right leg, and persistent numbness in my feet and hands) I  am blessed to say that I was released from the hospital after my final surgery on August 5th and the doctors believe the cancer is gone!!

God has blessed me so much and I am so very thankful for all the support and prayers you have shown my family and me during this time. Your encouragement has meant the world to us, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

To list the blessings and miracles along this journey through the valley would take forever. But I can summarize by saying that We matter to God. We matter to each other. And You matter to me. Thank you for being my friend.

Love you all!!
Donnie 😁🎹
