Raymond D. - Cascade Division Prayers

Good Evening Cascade Division,

Thank you for another day of service! Know you are appreciated and prayed for by so many! As your day begins to wind down, it is my hope you can take a few minutes to come together in prayer. I would like to share this uplifting story about yesterday’s “Operation Share Hope”, from Lisa Cole who is the Portland Metro Community Liaison:

“I always leave Operation Share Hope energized by the excitement of watching God touch people’s lives as He draws their gaze to Himself. There is nothing better!

Today we had 70 people who stopped for prayer: 68 in cars and 2 walk-ups. How often do we get to stand in one place and have people flock to us to seek His face with them? What a gift!

One gentleman came last week after being laid off and stopped for prayer. He shared that isn’t something he would usually do. He said it was less than 24 hours later, he received a job offer. He thanked our prayer team and wanted to share the good news!

Another gentleman had walked away from his walk with God. He shared that he wanted prayer---life had become hard. He said he wasn’t ready to return to the Lord, but still wanted prayer. I appreciate that honesty! …and I pray he comes again.

Unexpectedly Patrick, Mary’s husband, came to pray with us today. That was a real blessing! A young man he had reached out to through street ministry a few months ago showed up for prayer and Patrick was there to connect with him again. They were able to talk further about the Lord and pray together. It was a WOW! moment for both of them. He is sovereign and He is good!

Our last three times together have ended with a spontaneous time of prayer and praising God for what He is doing in our midst. There have been 10-20 people each time that have stayed after a few minutes in prayer and praise. I would like to see this aspect continue to grow—making room for the opportunity to give Him the glory and exaltation due. I think people are beginning to see us more and more as a church, even a Christian movement. …and one they want to be a part of. Through Operation Share Hope we get to be the light in the darkness. We get to actively live our mission – preaching the Gospel (I hope to see this part continue to grow—bring on the open air!!!) and meeting human need without discrimination. I see that more today than I have since I have been in the Army.

It continues to be an absolute JOY!”

What a wonderful praise report! The Army set out to feed our neighbors physically and we get to feed them spiritually as well!!

Matthew 5:6 tells us, “Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are blessed, for they will be filled.”

Let’s pray,

Lord you constantly amaze us. You provide an idea of combined food distribution in the Portland area, you show us the way to organize it. You provide the media to promote it. You provide the food. You provide the locations. You provide the hands needed to carry out all the work. You open the doors and thousands of our neighbors come. To be fed physically and spiritually. Thank you for all who work together to carry out Operation Share Hope. Thank you for all the food that comes in to meet this need. Thank you for the officers, employees, and volunteer who make it happen. May they remain strong and excited in this service to you and our neighbors. We praise you for this ministry born out of a time of difficulty.

Lord, bless all the officers, directors, employees, and volunteer throughout the division. Keep them strong and courageous in their ministries, work, and service to you and the people. Give to them your encouragement. Let them feel your loving presence. Let them have rest and be rejuvenated. Most of all, Lord, may your name be lifted up.

Amen.
