Franklin G. - Tennessee Disaster

An incredible 17 inches of rain fell over a 24-hour period and caused catastrophic flooding in Middle Tennessee. At least 21 people have been killed and reports state that 40 are still missing this morning. Gov. Bill Lee tweeted, “The loss of life and property damage is devastating, and many of our neighbors are still missing. Please keep these communities in your prayers.” Samaritan's Purse will be responding to help. Please remember the people of this region and especially around the city of Waverly.

Monica K. - Husband's Healing

Mark’s oncologist told him on Wednesday that if he was walking  in his office for the first time he would tell him his throat looked perfectly normal! His kidney levels were even better this week than last. His next appointment will be a CT scan to hopefully show the cancer is gone.

He had his feeding tube removed yesterday. Sooner than his radiologist would have liked but it wouldn’t stop leaking. Mark decided it was a quality of life decision and told them to take it out. He enjoyed a blissful night of sleep last night untethered to any tubes or machines.

His goal now is to get his belly healed up and ingest enough calories to maintain his weight so his body has enough strength to continue healing fully.

Continued prayers appreciated this week and leading up to his appointment on the 30th. Thanks friends!

Sean F. - Afghanistan Christians

The Taliban has sent out letters to churches across Afghanistan saying:

“We know who you are and we’re coming for you!”

The rise of persecution is inevitable there! The church must PRAY! This is OUR JOB! 🙏🏽💔🙏🏽

“Peter was kept in prison: but prayer was made WITHOUT CEASING of the church unto God for him.” Acts 12:5

Monica K. - Husband's recovery

Update On Mark: I haven’t updated in a while. There hasn’t been a whole lot to share until recently. Mark is five weeks post treatment and well into the recovery phase.

He started getting his sense of taste back this week and ate dinner with us last night for the first time in two months. He still has a little residual phlegm, but it is nothing compared to what he was dealing with, and it no longer impedes his ability to swallow!

He had a feeding tube mishap late last week which resulted in it leaking again. The leaking hasn’t stopped but it is somewhat manageable. The doc assures us it will stop, just have to give it a few days.

Mark is hopeful that it will come out sooner than later now that he is able to eat. His doctor says he has to be able to eat enough by mouth to maintain his weight. He can only taste certain things just yet (mostly savory) and can only eat very small amounts so the feeding tube is providing 99% of his nutrition at the moment.

He doesn’t get out much because of the leaky feeding tube. That and he gets really tired only leaving the house for doctors appointments. We did go to see a movie last week. That was a huge treat!

From what the doctors can tell, he is healing up well and there are no physical signs of cancer! A CT scan has been scheduled for the end of this month to confirm it.

We are as always greatful for your prayers and love you all!

Melanie L. - Health

I’m asking for prayer please.

I’m on Day 12 of ridiculous shoulder/neck pain.  And day 7 of allergic reaction hives from a medicine I took to help ease the pain.

I’m doing all the doctor recommended things.

I’ve always been a very healthy person and hold myself to high level of productivity.

So prayers that I trust God when the answer isn’t quick. Swallow pride at asking for help. Do what I can do without pushing myself and rest rest rest my body.

Also prayers that William has a calm week.

Niki W. - Sister PTG

Yesterday my baby sister, Natalie passed. Her page tells her story better than I ever would and I encourage you to see her journey through her eyes.

Two weeks ago Nathaniel and I were able to go see her and say goodbye. I will forever be grateful that we were able to spend some time with her.

Thank you to all of you who have loved me through this. Thank you for the airport rides, crashing on couches, phone venting sessions, comforting words, big hugs, and flowers.

Everyone has been so kind and helpful through this journey, and I’m so grateful for the friends and family I have. The question “What can I do?” has been asked countless times, and until now, I haven’t really had an answer. So friends, what can you do? You can spend a little extra time with your loved ones for me. Hug them tighter, laugh at their dumb jokes, stay up too late, tell them you love them, tell them you love them again. If you have kiddos, give them an extra treat and let them stay up past their bedtime tonight. Put a little more love in this world, that’s my request.

Ruth H. - Health

Hey friends,

I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately because this past month has been an absolute whirlwind of emotions as I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

There is no easy way for me to say this, but I wanted it to be known so that my friends and loved ones can be praying for me.

I’m praising God for the fact that I have options and will be having surgery in September. I’m so grateful for my amazing husband who has been with me every step of the way, for my supportive and loving children and family. I am so grateful for friends that have rallied around me and given me love and given me the space to cry and share all my rollercoaster of emotions with.

This has truly been the hardest month of my life, and I would never wish this to happen to anyone. However I know God has me and will continue to heal me.

This cancer was found at a routine yearly mammogram… all you lovely ladies PLEASE get your yearly mammogram. It truly saved my life.

I am asking that you would pray for me as I am fighting this cancer and am on a long journey of recovery. Please pray for my wonderful strong husband who is holding it all together, pray for my children who are processing this and pray for my family.

If anyone has any questions I am an open book and I would love to share my journey with you.

God is so good and I am taking this one day at a time. ❤️

Darren N. - Division / Health

Friends,

It was such a blessing to be with you all on Saturday.  It was an amazing day to be together (finally!) and what a joy it was to see people at camp enjoying time with each other.  It was also a wonderful opportunity to get to know all the new officers to the division and welcome them to the great Golden State Division.

I write this morning though to ask for your prayers for some of our officers.  First, I am asking for continued prayers for Daisy and Manuel G.  Daisy has been in hospital for 6 days now due to covid-19 pneumonia and on Saturday, Manuel was also take to the hospital due to breathing difficulties and has been kept there.  A corps member has stayed at the quarters to be with Jacob and David.  Please continue to pray for this family who really need healing and a touch from God.

I also ask for your prayers for Joe and Judy Z.  As some of you are aware, Joe broke his wrist in the soccer game at camp.  He was taken to the emergency room and got back home later that night with his arm heavily bandaged in a sling. Judy wasn’t able to be with us at camp because a few days earlier she had fallen at home and sprained her ankle and is on crutches.  So please also pray for healing for this family as well today.

Finally, I would ask you to remember Charleen M. who with Matt and their kids have just arrived to our division.  Charleen has been dealing recently with significant health issues and she too was taken to hospital yesterday afternoon with internal pain.  She also needs our prayers for healing and relief from pain.

We are one division, one body, one family.  When one part hurts, we all hurt.  Please present these requests to the Lord today.

Father, will lift our brothers and sisters to you now who are hurting and in pain.  We seek your healing power over them and entrust them to your care.  Be with them today and grant them your peace.  Bless their families too.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Thank you and have a great day.

Darren
