Raymond D. - Cascade Division Prayers

Dear Cascade Division,

We are sharing our Prayer and Praise with you today. It is our hope that it will encourage your hearts to read about the good things going on in our Division. When we do our best, God takes care of the rest. Pocatello’s story shared is a testament to God’s provision. As a sign I read recently in a neighborhood yard stated, “God’s Got This” is very true.

God bless.

Prayer & Praise:

Good Evening Everyone,

Another day of service is under your belts and I pray you will get good rest tonight! I want to share the good things going on at the Pocatello Outpost, led by Lts. Ernie and Sara Evans. Please take a moment to read the follow praise report and be reminded that God is good. Lt. Ernie writes:

There is a lot to praise and a lot to pray for.

The Crazy and beautiful part of this whole storm of weird is in all of it we have seen the will and hand of God in many of our dealings. We have seen God use the Latter Day Saints in our community to support and lift The Salvation Army, we have seen God use children, and strangers to show love to our community. We have gotten emails, Facebook messages, phone calls, all saying thank you for all that you are doing in our community, while the whole time we have been low key on our advertisement. People have become our voice… our heralds as it were. We have made great friends with the owners of a local skating ring who delivers food boxes for us every week, and Amy Shelton, the representative of Justserve.org, is one of our strongest supporters who has championed for us in the media and word of mouth.

When we were placed on EDS alert, Pocatello changed from a community that needs 12 food boxes a week, to 30 or 40 boxes being home-delivered twice a week. By the third week, more than half of that was also gone.

Then God Happens.

A phone call from the food bank, brought two pallets of food with our name on it and is still in their care to come and get. The Church of Jesus Christ comes and gives over 10,000.00 worth of credit from the Bishop storehouse - 5,000 for our pantry 5,000 for our soup kitchen. The Library brought in 3000 lbs of food. A Local Company brought in about 2500 lbs of food from an in-house drive. Ridley’s Market starts doing a bag-buy program and supplies about 1100lbs of food per week for the last 4 weeks. Channel 8 hosts a food drive for us with 2500 lbs in food collected. Two eagle scouts pulled together their neighborhood and pulled in a trailer full of food with a mass of about 5000 lbs worth of cans and dry goods. Several individual walk-ins have happened to the tune of about 2900 lbs worth of food. And this weekend a little girl, Olivia, took her birthday to run a food drive for us. She alone pulled in about 2000 lbs worth of food.

The Salvation Army of Pocatello now has five times as much food as when we started this Covid-19 disaster. We are a bit inundated with the amount of food we have and with the support this community has shown.

We didn’t do anything, we just let God.

Philippians 4:19 reminds us, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Let’s pray,

Lord, we love you. You are an amazing provider to your people. Sometimes, all we need to do is allow you to meet needs. Thank you for what you have done in Pocatello to meet the needs of the community during this difficult time. Bless Lts. Ernie and Sara Evans as they serve the people there and as they present you. We praise you in showing your mighty hand in such an impactful way.

We also ask your blessing on all the corps, programs, and Service Extension locations throughout the division. May you be lifted up and the people served throughout the land. May the bounty you offer be recognized, received, and praised. We thank you for the opportunity of the rest we need that you provide. You are our Lord and Savior and we praise you for all you do for us, the people, and our land at a time of great need.
