Raymond D. - Cascade Division Prayers

Greetings Friends,

I hope you are having a good Saturday. It’s time for the nightly Prayer and Praise email and today Lt. Quinton Markham from the Salem Kroc has shared this story about how one of their employee’s is making a difference during this difficult time in his community:

This is Erick Flora (see the attached photo). Erick normally works as one of our rock wall attendants at the Kroc Center, but these days he is helping out in collaboration with one of our community partners, the Marion Polk Food Share!

Erick is working with a team that is supplying food to food banks in the area as well as some of the people in the homeless community who are currently in hotels.

Here is what he had to say:

“Depending on the day, we might separate 16-20 fifty lb. bags of potatoes as well as bags of onions, apples, peaches and pears into more family sized portions for distribution. My daughter and two sons are proud that I’m able to help our community in this different way during this time.

I’ve been trained to be mentally active and aware of safety situations while working at the rock wall, and I get to apply those same skills to making food boxes while being aware of the pallet jacks and forklifts.”

He continued, “Working with the Marion Polk Food Share employees and volunteers is very rewarding. The same love and admiration we have for all of our members and guests at the Kroc Center, they have for each and every family and community they feed with all of the materials they process here. These two organizations coming together like this to work hand in hand really is a perfect pairing and I’m happy to be part of it.”

Thank you, Erick for your dedication and compassion to help those in need and the joy and support you bring to those whom you are serving.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 tells us, “Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts.”

Let’s pray together,

Lord, we love you. Thank you for salvation. Thank you for your peace. Thank you for supplying our needs during a very difficult time in this world. Show us the way to go, where to turn, what to say, and who to partner with to not only get the job done, but to bring you glory.

Thank you for work that is being done at the Salem Kroc Center. Be with Lts. Quinton and Deanna Markham as they work hard to support their community and present you to a needy public. Thank you for the volunteers and employees who work alongside them to support the people of their area. We also thank you for the organizations and agencies who come together for the good of those in need. Bless their efforts, keep them safe and healthy, and provide them the rest they need to continue the good work.

Lord, we ask those same things to be granted to the people of all the corps and all the programs and all the service extension units in the Cascade Division. May our efforts make a difference to the people of Oregon and Idaho. We ask that this virus be knocked down and overcome soon. Most of all, we praise you as our Lord and Savior.

Amen.

Finally, if you have a positive story that we can tell in a few paragraphs, send them our way! We would love to include what you are doing at your location that has made a difference.
