Raymond D. - Cascade Division Prayers

Good Evening Friends,

In Isaiah 6:8 we read, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: Who should I send? Who will go for Us? I said: Here I am. Send me.”

Tonight, I’d like to share with you a couple pictures and what our fellow workers are doing at the Salvation Army Female Emergency Shelter (SAFES) in downtown Portland. Executive Director Becky McBrayer shared the attached photos and the following information of what they are doing for people in need:

“SAFES is serving over 2,000 hot meals and handing out hundreds of survivals supplies each week to men and women through a service window. There is a long line of people experiencing homelessness outside our building each day waiting for help. People have remarked that SAFES is serving the best food downtown right now!”

Well done Becky and all those who answer the call by saying. “Send me!”

Let’s pray,

Lord, we are so thankful for the opportunities you have presented us to serve you and our neighbors. Thank you for sending us to carry out the work that needs to be done. Thank you specially for Becky, the employees, and the volunteers at SAFES who are making a difference in downtown Portland. Bless them in their work and bless the people who receive the meals and supplies provided. May SAFES always have the food they need to prepare another meal, to serve another hungry neighbor, and to provide a hand up. Keep them safe from the virus, strong in their commitment, and rested to serve another day. Lord we ask this for all of our corps and programs throughout the division.

Thank you most of all for they salvation you offer. We ask these things in your precious name.

Amen

Silvia S. - Cascade Division Prayers

Good Evening Family,

Tonight I would like to share with you about The Salvation Army Veterans & Family Center in Beaverton, Oregon by the leadership of Major Rhonda Lloyd.

Here is what she had to say:

“The Salvation Army Veterans & Family Center here in Beaverton, Oregon continues to accept homeless Veterans and their families into our program even with the ongoing Corona Virus concerns. Of course, we have suspended groups and limited visitors to accommodate the Governor’s orders, but we still do weekly intakes, serve three meals a day (in a reduced capacity dining room & via to-go meals directly to client/resident rooms) and do our best to connect with our Veterans for Case Management over the phone. We currently have 95 client/residents from newborn to a 92 year old Korean War Vet staying here! There are 14 children from two months to 15 years old who live here and are basically stuck in their rooms. We gave each of them an Easter basket with a lot of craft and activity supplies in an effort to keep them busy during the shutdown. We also have one mom who is pregnant with twins and expected to deliver in the next couple of months. Our kitchen staff have recently agreed to provide an additional 35 meals three times a week to a collaborative community shelter that has opened in our Hillsboro Thrift Store for COVID 19 positive homeless folks or those experiencing possible COVID symptoms. Imagine trying to keep 95-100 people fed & occupied 24/7 with 30% less staff while still encouraging them to apply for jobs, work on life goals and maintain their physical & mental health! Life is a challenge for each of us, but especially our homeless Vets and their families. However, we continue to serve the Lord and those who have served our Country through this uncertain and very frustrating time in our world’s history. And praise God – so far the virus has not penetrated our doors!!”

Let’s Pray:

Father we love you and are thankful for all the wonderful thinks that you are doing in our Division. We thank you for the leadership of Major Rhonda Lloyd and her staff at the Veterans Center. Thank you that we have a place to shelter so many families during this time. We pray for your protection and provision for each one of their residents and staff, special for the kids that are not able to leave their rooms. Father may you give them your peace and joy. May they find strength and guidance in you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!

Tonight I want to share what God has done through Kroc Center Corps.
Lts. Markham and Lt. Laura

“Some of our Kroc Center staff have continued in emergency service roles in food box preparation and delivery along with our regular Social Service staff. At our Family Service office, there is currently no identification or paperwork required. Just grab and go. Each box contains enough canned food, produce, dairy and protein to supplement a family of four for a few days. We are also assisting with Meals on Wheels food preparation, and assisting other social service agencies in the area. We are highlighting some of our workers on our Facebook pages.
Our Emergency Child Care program is almost full at this time. We anticipate this number rising to 100 in the coming days. This child care service is Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM through 7:30 PM and includes three meals and two snacks daily. Kids are separated into pods of up to 10 children in their same age range, and have a certified teacher and aide assigned to their class, exclusively. They cycle through a schedule of educational, fun and recreational activities throughout the day.” Lt. Quinton Markham

God, we praise your name for the opportunities that we have to serve people. We are so blessed to see what you are doing in our division. Thank you for the officers at Kroc Center we pray that you continue to strength and protect them.
Give them your joy everyday and guide them to make a difference in the local community.
It is a privilege to be used by you to spread love and hope.
In Jesus name. Amen.

Captain Raymond - Cascade Division Prayers

Greetings Friends,

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Lord we love you. Thank you for the direction you gave to each and every one of us as we labored to serve you and our neighbors that you sent to us today, each of our neighbors that we brought service to today, and each of our neighbors that we were able to present you to today. Lord, many of us are tired after a long day without much rest. We place our needs in your loving hands, so that we may rest now and regain our strength to answer your call on our lives tomorrow.

We pray for Captains Brent and Kristy Church in Medford. Give them the rest they need, the health they need, and the courage they need to fight for you tomorrow. Thank you for their service and let them feel your reassuring presence in their lives.

We pray for Captain Ray Morris, serving in The Dalles. Thank you for his love and dedication to you and to the good people of his community. Guide him in the direction he should go and give to him the courage and the wisdom to carry out your will. Give to him rest tonight and renewal.

We also pray for Lts. Quinton and Deanna Markham, as well as Lt. Laura Fyn who are serving you in Salem. Thank you for them. Thank you for their servant leadership during this difficult time. Thank you for the work they do to further your kingdom. Give to them a restful night sleep tonight and every night.

Lord, each one of us present our lives to you so that you may be praised and worshiped. We thank you for what you are doing and what you are going to do during this difficult time. In you do we place our faith and trust.

Amen.
