Chris G. - Health/Recovery

"Thank you all for sending prayers on my behalf. Earlier this week, I spent a few days in the hospital due to some abnormal blood readings. After some test and procedures, it appears that I am OK. However, following my discharge, I was experiencing some issues with my heart. After taking my required medication, it didn’t appear at first to settle down, but in the end, everything was put back in place. I am very frustrated with my health and recovery and feel that I will never fully be healed. There are times that I feel that while people hear what I’m saying, they will never understand what I am going through and that’s OK. I am now just seeking strength in my everyday life to do simple task like preparing meals for my family or walking up the stairs without getting winded. Facing full on disability, it’s tough for me, yeah, I have good friends who have experience whatever challenges in their lives. Every day I use them as an example of courage in the face of uncertainty. I would ask that you continue to pray and send positive thoughts might behalf. Thank you."

Ronnie D. - Health/Possible surgery

Update: 3/25

Time for a qyick update. Had the surgery around 3 this morning. I have very inflamed large and small bowels. The appendix was gangrenous so the doctor was afraid to remove it. He didnt want to cause further issues. In the meantime it was cleaned out and i will be in the hospital for a few days until my white blood cell goes down. As always prayers are appreciated

"So i have been in the emergency room since 7 this evening. Looks like I have appendicitis. Doctors are deciding whether or not surgery is needed. I could definitely use all the prayers i can get"

Steve S. - Health/Cancer Treatment/Travels

Steve shared that his prostate cancer is back and will going through radiation treatment on March 25th (43 days treatment). Pray for healing!

The following is from his email:

Please pray that “very treatable” and “great probability of success” becomes “100% curable.” Pray that I’d be able to bear up under whatever impact the treatments have in my daily life.

The treatments will take me all the way to the very end of May. In addition to this, I have an appointment with an osteoporosis doctor at Vanderbilt on June 7 to treat what has been called “very severe osteoporosis,” with a follow up a few days afterwards. I am also trying to schedule flights for Anne and me to travel to Guam, Yap, Palau, and Chuuk this summer. We would hate to miss all that. Our great desire is to go. But I don’t know if all these medical issues will cancel those plans or not.

I do desire, however, and this is a prayer request, that God would gain the greatest glory through all this. Therefore, please pray that He would make it very clear whether we should make those reservations by faith, or by faith stay home in Tennessee.

Thank you for standing behind us and with us in prayer all these years. I can honestly say that’s what keeps us going.

Pressing On,

Steve

Michelle F. S. - Recovery and Health

Thankful for all the prayers yesterday!  I made it through my hip surgery yesterday morning!  Finally got to be home at around 6:30 last night.   Puking all day is not fun!!! 🤢🤮.  Thankful for the great Dr Lovell and the wonderful nurses who were there with me at Sacred Heart.  A big shout out of support from my wonderful la familia and my friends.  ❤️❤️❤️ especially my hubby Richard Silva, my daughter and son-in-love Beccah Whitney, Jared Whitney and my rock of a sister Kathy Woodfield. Most all my faith and trust in Jesus.. couldn’t have done it without the faith and peace he gave me yesterday!  Please continue to pray as I go through recovery.. there is a lot of work to do in getting my hip to recover and hopefully not driving my hubby crazy!  😜 God is good!  “Heal me , O Lord and I shall be healed, save me and I shall be saved, for thou art MY PRAISE, “ Jeremiah 30:17 🙏🏻❤️

Joanna W. - Dads Health/Family

This prayer request was shared by my sister Rebecca this morning. Thank you for your continued prayers for my parents:

Prayer partners, please keep Mom and Dad, Larry and Carroll Vaughan, in your prayers. Dad's colon is still asleep. He hasn't had anything to drink since midnight before the surgery on Tuesday. He is very uncomfortable and in pain. And thirsty! Please pray for Mom too as she has pneumonia. They've been trying different meds but nothing is working so far. Cannot thank you enough for your prayers for them! They are leaning on Jesus and have amazing testimonies.

Ethan B. - Moms Health/Recovery

My mom is recovering in the ICU but currently stable. She had stent put in . She’s resting a lot and can now speak weakly but is fully aware and responsive. Prayers please for continued recovery as it will be some time to fully recover.

Will S. - Health/Recovery

Jus wanted to keep family updatedddd
This past week I had felt a sudden sharp, squeezing pain in my lower left abdomen after eating and while watching TV.
I had tried to just sleep it off and let it figure itself out. Was awoken next morning with the same sharp pain only stronger, again just trying to brush it off.
Eventually I had to go downstairs and start my day, finally thought it had passed and was doing okay and right when I truly thought it was over, there it went again at its strongest and had felt as if I had just gotten stabbed by a knife from my stomach through my back.
I felt nauseous, weak, I started sweating profusely, skin was cold clammy. Couldn’t support my weight, was crouching in the toilet.
Finally decided that this wasn’t something I wasn’t going to be able to fix on my own.
Went to the ER
Waited 7 hours, had to do an abdominal CT with contrast along with an abdominal and vaginal ultrasound
Couldn’t find my ovaries, but saw dilated arteries in my CT
I had really thought they were going to turn me away and tell me nothings wrong (that’s what I’m usually told for every other issue I’ve needed to go to the ER for)
Had to redo all the ultrasound exams yet again
Still couldn’t find my ovaries 🙃
OBGYN decided we needed to go in to really see what’s going on
To my luck..
They had found a cyst hidden behind my ovary that had ruptured, bleeding out into what was still my reproductive organs where blood shouldn’t be
along with extra tissue growth, lesions, and what the doctor called gunpowder splotches that confirmed that I live with endometriosis.
The doctor thankfully confirmed to me that this is nothing I could’ve caused but that they were able to remove the leftover cyst and blood with harming my organs whatsoever.
In regards to my fertility, the physicalities of everything according to the surgeon looks well but won’t know more until I’m actually working on trying to have a baby.
Unfortunately upon doing research on endometriosis when coming home, I now have one of the top 10 most painful diseases in the world.. but for some reason isn’t seen as a disability
pain and growth varies depending on person, symptoms can include more than average menstruation pain to bodily issues like sciatica and learned that Endo doesn’t just subject itself to the uterus but throughout all organs in the body.
It’s endometriosis awareness month and now personally having this condition, it’s part of my duty to help spread awareness. Endos not as small as I had even originally thought when I had come home from the hospital. I was always frequently testing my health every year and had never had issues of finding anything and even got called by my doctors office about how healthy my blood results were while I was waiting in the ER. Endometriosis can unfortunately only be fully confirmed by surgery and physically looking inside as it does not show up on any scans and takes an average of 7-10 years to be diagnosed with.
I’m just grateful to know that all my times constantly in the hospital growing up wasn’t just in my head and all the overly painful periods of not being able to get out of bed wasn’t just me being weak or lazy. I had wondered why I was always feeling random sharp pains everywhere and then would go away and wasn’t consistent enough to prove itself a problem or my recent issue of my back and hip pain that felt like I had gotten stabbed and felt like my legs were being cut off.
I encourage everyone to educate themselves on endometriosis and watch your body closely.

Johnny G. - Sons Update

Your prayers are working miracles!

Tonight, one of our sons and our daughter visited Jonathan, and he is fully alert, smiling, laughing, mouthing words (he can’t speak out loud because of the trach), asking questions, and he even asked his brother to pray over him! 🥹🙏

We are astounded at the difference from Tuesday to today!

Thank you for your faithfulness in praying for our son. 🙏❤️🙏

Keep praying and let’s give all the glory to Christ.

Kari Su - Husband's Health

Eric has taken a different perspective on his chronic pain. The surgeons call it referred pain. Basically, after each surgery, the pain changes.

Anyhow, Eric M Rudd feels hopeful. Resolute. Joyful in the anticipation that someday, he will be pain free in eternity. And that is something he looks forward to.

I share this for those of us that are living with pain every day. Idk what that is like personally. I had knee pain for a year, but Eric has lived with pain his entire life.

After one surgery, the dr came out and asked if he was in pain as a child. His internal organs were backwards inside of his body. The surgeon had never seen anything like it before.

He is fearfully and wonderfully made.

Romans 8:18
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Jenn S. - Health

I didn't have time to post before going back to work....I had my follow up with the doctor today regarding my bladder....No cancer!!! Bladder has been cleared as the issue with the bleeding. Apparently I have a rather large kidney stone that he didnt think was the cause of the bleeding but is rethinking.  I have to go in for an x-ray to see if they can see the stone. If they can, they will dissolve it with some sort of waves. If they can't see it, I will have to have it removed because it is too large to pass on it's own! Overall...great news!  I'll take a kidney stone over cancer any day!

THANK YOU EVERYONE for the outpouring of prayers and concern! This is proof that we have a God who hears and answers prayer!

March Prayers for TSA World

 Greetings Friends,

I am pleased to send you requests from our Prayer Focus territories and regions for March 2024.

This initiative of turning our thoughts and prayers towards the same part of the world in the same week is a beautiful way to unite us as a global Army family and I thank you for the commitment you each give to this.

In March, we will be praying for the following territories and regions:

26 – 03 March 2024 Sri Lanka Territory

04 - 10 March 2024 Taiwan Region

1 – 17 March 2024 Mozambique Territory

18 – 24 March 2024 USA Western Territory*

25 – 31 March 2024 Sweden and Latvia Territory

Each of these territories and regions has shared with us subjects to include in our prayers.  Please find these requests attached. *The prayer requests from USA Western Territory will follow soon.

If you don't already do so, I encourage you to forward these requests so that salvationists are aware of the specific requests for prayer in parts of the world other than their own.

Thank you for your continued prayerful support for our international Salvation Army and for sharing these prayer requests with others.

May the Lord bless you as you bless others through your intercessions on their behalf.

On behalf of the Territorial Secretary for Spiritual Life Development, Commissioner Colleen Riley,
