Update On Mark: I haven’t updated in a while. There hasn’t been a whole lot to share until recently. Mark is five weeks post treatment and well into the recovery phase.
He started getting his sense of taste back this week and ate dinner with us last night for the first time in two months. He still has a little residual phlegm, but it is nothing compared to what he was dealing with, and it no longer impedes his ability to swallow!
He had a feeding tube mishap late last week which resulted in it leaking again. The leaking hasn’t stopped but it is somewhat manageable. The doc assures us it will stop, just have to give it a few days.
Mark is hopeful that it will come out sooner than later now that he is able to eat. His doctor says he has to be able to eat enough by mouth to maintain his weight. He can only taste certain things just yet (mostly savory) and can only eat very small amounts so the feeding tube is providing 99% of his nutrition at the moment.
He doesn’t get out much because of the leaky feeding tube. That and he gets really tired only leaving the house for doctors appointments. We did go to see a movie last week. That was a huge treat!
From what the doctors can tell, he is healing up well and there are no physical signs of cancer! A CT scan has been scheduled for the end of this month to confirm it.
We are as always greatful for your prayers and love you all!
