Raymond D. - Cascade Divisional prayers

Good Evening Everyone,

Here’s hoping you are settling down for the evening and are able to enjoy a bit of praise from Albany where Lts. Charles and Dawn DeJesus lead the Corps and services for the Lord, the community, and in this case, truckers passing through the area:

The Salvation Army Albany Corps set up Trucker’s Table at Exit 233 in Albany to provide free meals for truckers because many of these essential workers are having trouble finding somewhere to park and get a hot meal to eat amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In the first 10 days, Trucker’s Table provided 200 meals to truckers. Lt. Charles DeJesus said the idea for Trucker’s Table came from a conversation with his wife. “My wife (Lt. Dawn), who is from out East, was talking to her friend who is a trucker, and she discovered that many truckers are experiencing food insecurity,” he said. “They can’t pull through a drive-through window, and when they were finding food supplies, they were overpriced or weren’t good quality.” Volunteers are preparing and serving meals such as barbecue chicken, meatloaf with mashed potatoes, spaghetti and gourmet hamburgers with bacon.

DeJesus said he has enjoyed getting to know the truckers and hearing their stories. “It’s been less a ministry of feeding and more a ministry of presence. I’m just blown away by the character and work ethic of these truckers. They have a good sense of pride in what they’re doing.”

“It’s nice to be appreciated,” one trucker said. “Being a trucker is a tough job, with long stretches of boredom with doses of sheer terror and anxiety. What Charles is doing through Trucker’s Table is really nice.”

Matthew 25:35 tells us, “For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in.”

 

Let’s pray,

 

Lord, we love You and are thankful for the many blessing You send our way. May we gladly receive them, be strengthend by them, share them with those You send our way, and present You as we do that. Thank You for feeding us in so many ways. Thank You for the salvation You offer.

 

Tonight, we lift up Lts. Charles and Dawn DeJesus as they lead the Albany Corps, present You, and love their people. Their service to the truckers who are passing by their community is not only a unique new way to minister to other but covers an important need that this time of virus has presented. Thank You for the resources given and the volunteers who helped to make this ministry happen. We ask that You give Charles and Dawn the strength and rest they need to meet the challenges of tomorrow and the blessing of another day.

 

Please be with all the people receiving this email. These are difficult yet important days as we find our way through this pandemic and this time of soul searching, so that we may all stand together as brothers and sisters in Christ. Give us the rest we need and the strength for tomorrow. To You be the glory.

Silvia S. - Cascade Divisional prayers

Dear friends,

 

The bible teaches us that it’s good to lift prayers of praise to God.

 

“Its good to give thanks to the Lord,

to sing praises to You name, O Most HIGH. (Psalm 92:1)

 

Tonight we want to share with you praises from a couple of our ministries around our division.

 

Major Orpha Moody from Idaho Falls, said that last week KFC donated 80 meals for their location. With this generous donation,

they were able to feed all people that came to their social services and also feed some of the homeless that were

in the park next to the Corps. Major Orpha said that they are blessed by the generosity of their community.

We are very grateful for their ministry in Idaho Falls.

 

We also got this praise report from one of our volunteers from the “Operation of Hope”, and here is what she says:

 

One mom reported that her three kids, each under 10, could hardly wait to get through the food line so they could get to the prayer tent.

“We are almost there! We are almost there!” What a blessing! The mom comes and gets food for her family and then they get to connect

with our prayer team to seek His face together. 

 

What a beautiful team we have. We are very thankful for each one of you. Thanks for sharing your gifts and loving god’s people.

Dear heavenly Father, we thank You today for the gift of praise. Thank you for revealing Yourself to us through Your Word, by Your Spirit, and in Your creation. You alone are worthy of praise and glory and honor, for You have created all things. Father, we love you and we are thankful for everything you have done for us. Thank you for your never changing love. We praise you for your goodness and faithfulness.

Tonight we want to lift up our officers in Idaho Falls, Majors Gregory and Orpha Moody. We pray for your guidance and protection. Father be with them and continue to bless them and their ministry.

We also pray for our volunteers and clients that are coming to our programs to serve or be served. We pray for blessings upon their lives, please provide their needs and direct their paths. Thanks again for all You do for us Lord.

Fabio S. - Cascade Division prayers

Tonight I will share what one volunteer sent to me. David Smith has helped us every week to serve people in need.

“My biggest impression has been all of the very nice people I have met! It has been a real pleasure working with and around everyone! Also, The Salvation Army has a motto I really like: Doing the Most Good. I interpret it to mean "doing the most good" with whatever resources the Army is entrusted with. That is an organizational ideal that I am more than happy to contribute to, and be a part of, as a volunteer! “

“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” Proverbs 11:25

Shall we pray,

Dear Lord, what a blessing to inspire others to seek you through our attitudes and character that are a result of our relationship with you.

God, thank you for all the opportunities to offer hope through our Faith in Jesus Christ that lead us to serve our community and to meet their spiritual, emotional and physical needs.

We pray for David Smith. Father use him to shine your glory and to engage more people in your kingdom. God, may you to protect him and his family and friends. Bless him in a such way that people around him can see your glory.

Father, thanks for the Salvation Army, for being entrusted to serve people and also to give people opportunities to serve.

God bless our division and allow all officers to experience this to enlarge our tents for your glory.

Raymond D. - Cascade Division Players

Greeting Everyone,

 

As this Tuesday begins to come to a close, my hope for you is a time of reflection, a time of rest, and a time of restoration. We have experienced a difficult week during a challenging period in our lives. Know that you are lifted up this evening. Know that you are loved and prayed for.

 

We look to Psalm 33:20-22, “We wait for the Lord; He is our help and shield. For our hearts rejoice in Him because we trust in His holy name. May Your faithful love rest on us, Lord, for we put our hope in You.”

 

Tonight, I bring to you the petitions of Greg Joseph, the Chaplin at the Veterans and Family Center in Beaverton. He includes a prayer in his report, so I will just add to the end of it:

 

Had the opportunity today to pray with 6 different individuals personally and pray for 100 different clients/ staff/ family members of our Veterans at the Family Center in Beaverton, Oregon.

 

Yes, the need is great; yet the act of prayer itself and answers as they are witnessed, is like a transfusion of GOD’S grace and presence into my spiritual veins. I know that GOD is moving whether I sense or feel HIS presence or not.

 

Maybe this is part of the reason the Apostle Paul said, “pray about everything” and our Lord Jesus told us to “ask, seek, and knock and the door will be opened”. Personally, it is the closest I feel toward Life in the realm of GOD and HIS presence.

 

Today’s prayers included healing for a broken back, a young mother with addiction challenges, the thought of a new home coming into fruition, anger over unmet expectations, a client of concern leaving prematurely, a 15 year old losing a parent to sudden death, joy over those coming to Christ bright eyed over the new possibilities, mental health realities, spiritual growth in those we have labored over for months. A mixed bag, eh.

 

Let’s pray,

 

Well GOD, they are YOUR’S, I am YOUR’S. May we trust YOUR character knowing that YOU are good, and that YOU have the heart and interest in our lives and in the lives of our house at the Veterans & Family Center. Fellowship and transparency with YOU are meaningful, and this happens within the context of my heart and words as best I can express. What’s not expressed; YOU know all about, as you know us and those we care about completely. Tomorrow is another day. Different needs, and different prayers. Yet this is true; Your Kingdom will come! We pray for YOUR grace and strengths to work and pray towards that end.

 

Lord, we also pray for all our people throughout the division who serve you and the people of their community. Love them, let them feel that love. Refresh them and my they have Your peace. In your precious name we pray.

Charles H. - Wife's Health Update

Update on my dear wife, Dara - June 4:

GOODNEWS!!! She has been working so hard with her rehab Physical and Occupational Therapists with the goal of going home. She has made great gains in her strength and endurance and as a result she will be coming home, Thursday, Jun 11. Yea!!! Her therapists told her that they don't want to see her go due to her sweet nature, but are so happy for her.

 Dara has had mobility issues for many years and has been homebound except for doctor's appointments. She had resigned herself to never being able to enjoy normal activities outside home. But, she now feels she can go outside and with use of her walker can walk through the neighborhood for exercise,  talk to neighbors, and sit down in the garden and enjoy God's creation. She also feels that she may also be able to accompany me to church, to bookstores (she loves books too), visits to downtown Charleston, go to restaurants and so much more. She will have to use a wheelchair for many of these activities, but she will no longer be cooped up in the house. Her therapists have challenged her to go beyond what she thought she was capable. I have so much appreciation for them. They have given Dara a gift, a very special gift.

MORE GOODNEWS!!! When she arrived in the Emergency Room on May 9 her potassium levels were dangerously high slowing her heart rate down and her creatine number was 10.0 (1.0 is the ideal number). This required emergency dialysis. Her creatine number (shows how well the kidneys are functioning) slowly decreased to 3.6 during her 12 days in the hospital. Her kidney doctor told her the level may decrease or it could be her new baseline, not requiring dialysis, but would need close monitoring. After a week in rehab it only decreased to 3.4, so we were feeling down. But, today she was told it is down to 2.4. Tears of joy. Although, 1.0 is the ideal, the doctor said that as we get older we naturally lose some kidney function, so many people live perfectly normal lives even as high as 2.5. She is already under that, and we hope to see continued improvement.

Dara has an appointment with her urologist tomorrow. He is the one that inserted the stents and temporary tubing to bypass the large kidney stones. We should find out the timeline for removal of the stones, stents and tubing.

Silvia S. - Cascade Division Prayers

Hello friends,

 

I pray that you all are doing well today. Can you believe that today is June 1^st? Seems a little crazy that the last two and a half months we all have been experiencing something that we never thought we would have to experience. Things are changing almost every day and it’s hard to plan our lives in the future, but one thing remains the same, that is God’s loves for us.

 

The word of God in Hebrews 13:8 says: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”.

 

As we continue to navigate this new normal and search for new opportunities to serve, we can definitely see that God is in control of everything and he remains the same. Tonight I want to thank our volunteers.

We are thankful for each one of them and for their support to all our programs. We couldn’t do what we are doing without them. They are making a difference in our communities.

 

Let’s pray:

 

Dear Heavenly father, tonight we want to lift up our volunteers. We are grateful for each one of them we pray for blessings upon their lives. Father it is amazing to see how much they love to serve and help our communities, in special to be part of The Salvation Army. Same of them don’t even know that we are a Christian organization and they don’t have a relationship with you. Father I pray that you can use us to share your love, grace and mercy with them. Father I pray that many lives may be changed during this pandemic and I pray that they will see something on us that show your love. Help us to make the difference in their lives. May your Holy Spirit be shine through us and your name will be lift up in everything we do. In Jesus name we pray,

Nancy D. - Ray M. Father PTG

Team Cascade,

 

Captain Ray’s father, Mr. Raymond M., Sr, passed away early this morning. Captain Ray is on the way home to Arizona to be with his mother, Anna Jo. They would greatly appreciate the powerful prayer support of the Army as they move through these next few days. The memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

We thank the Lord that God is Ray’s “hiding place and shield. And that he hopes in your word.” Psalm 119:114
