Prayer for Myanmar - September 3
For over a quarter of a century, Rev. William served as a devoted pastor to his congregation at Chungcung Baptist Church in Myanmar's Chin state. He was a loving husband, a father to five children, and a steady spiritual anchor in a region torn apart by conflict. When his beloved village and church were looted and burned in late 2021, Rev. William chose to remain, choosing to shepherd his people through their darkest hours rather than abandon them.
Tragically, that unwavering commitment cost him his life. Arrested in May along with a fellow Christian named Nam Ceu, Rev. William was held by the country's ruling military junta under accusations of aiding local defense forces. On June 4, the military executed the 25-year pastor without a trial or due process, leaving a grieving family and a heartbroken church family behind.
Across Myanmar, roughly two million Christians live under constant threat of airstrikes, village raids, and heavy shelling. Places of worship, from humble rural chapels to historic cathedrals, have been systematically targeted, burned, and reduced to ashes. Yet, even as their homes and churches crumble, the resilient faith of the Chin, Kachin, and Karen believers remains unbroken.
Let us stand in the gap today for his widow, his five children, and the countless families in Myanmar who continue to worship Jesus in the shadow of danger. May God surround them with supernatural peace and protection.
