Steve A. - Dad PTG

For the last 10 years, my father fought valiantly against the cruel and debilitating illness of Parkinson’s Disease. He did so with grace, courage and a wry sense of humor, right until the end. Today, in the early hours of the morning, my Dad passed away and was promoted to Glory.
I thank God for his life and for the wonderful Christian example he set for so many of us. He was kind, thoughtful and spent his whole life living for others; he always had that spark of mischief in his eyes and was so much fun to be with!
Dad, I love you and will miss you terribly. I thank God that you are now free from pain and that your smiley eyes are looking down from a heavenly place! Servant of God - - well done!!

Dewayne H. - Aunt

"Please say a prayer for healing for my Aunt Darlene (my dad's sister) who has Covid 19.  Please pray for her family too.  Thank you very much friends!  God bless you."

Crystal M. - Family / New Home

Today I am so thankful to God for a huge Answer to prayer.
At the end of July on our way to the Fairbanks airport after visiting Matt and family we received a call that Toms family home that he grew up in , in North Portland had caught on Fire. Thankful to God that all 3 Brothers got out safely, but everything was lost.
2 of the Brothers have special needs. So between appointments and care givers it has been an emotional time for Tom all while finding a new place for them to live. They have been in a Motel 6 since end of July
Today we are pleased to say they are now in an Apartment near us. Starting over from
Nothing is a daunting task. Renting an apartment is like an act of Congress. Praise God the starting over is going well.
I know many of you have been praying for Tom during this time. It has been emotional to see you family home burned and not livable.
Plus getting all the proper care for his 2 Brothers.
Please continue to pray as we continue to go through this journey. Still many things ahead.

Claire H. - Personal Prayer

Hi friends. I’m not doing ok.

So if you could pray for me, that would be great.

Also, if a few kind and interested souls could occasionally encourage me to eat and drink and maybe get outside, I need that. Those things tend to slip away from me. iykyk (If you witnessed Aleen airplane feed me chicken, well πŸ˜‚ lucky you, you witnessed pure friendship)

There’s been too much trauma and disruption in my life this year. I’m feeling extremely unsettled and extremely unsafe. I’ve coped extraordinarily well through all this. But I thought in a room filled to the the brim with hard things, I was all maxed out and wouldn’t have to endure any more; I had reached the ceiling. But the ceiling keeps rising to accommodate new pains. That feels like a mean trick and I don’t know where it ends. I know this extended no-end-in-sight trauma is a familiar feeling for most of you this year.

God is faithful, but I’m putting his crew on notice. So... consider yourself notified. Please love me extra right now.

Rob B. - John PTG

"No matter what happens with the U.S. election tonight, half of our country (give or take some millions of people) will be sad.

Not nearly as sad, though, as those of us who had the honor of knowing St. John of the Magnenat. I’d say he went to be with Jesus today, but the two have been together for so long, it’s really just that their eternal journey continued.

Praying peace for his family."

Kim W. - Prayer

I would be deeply humbled if everybody on my timeline that believes in the power of prayer would stop what you’re doing, just take a minute, and post this.
"Lord, we need You! Please sweep through this nation and heal this land. Restore our strength, renew our minds, and cast out anything that's not of You. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray, Amen."
Pray for our country!!
Amen

Sergio G. - New International Appointment

Today we are humbled to be appointed as the Under Secretaries for the Americas and Caribbean zone starting January 15, 2021. We look forward to serving the leaders and people of this great Salvation Army Zone, which stretches from Canada to the southern point of Chile. We will be working from The Salvation Army International Headquarters (IHQ) in London, UK. Please pray for us as our family transitions from Long Beach to London over the next couple of months. Our 3 youngest will be accompanying us (Kelly 18, Ivonne 17, Caleb 15) so pray for their transition and wellbeing.

Stephanie and I are grateful to God for 5 1/2 wonderful years @ Long Beach Citadel where we have been privileged to work with wonderful people we can call friends, both in the office and at the Corps. Plus all the wonderful community folks that have supported our Red Shield project and many programs over the last 5 years. We have a wonderful, hard-working board that we will miss and a great mayor and city council that have also been our advocates. Thankful for all of them and their support.

To all our friends and family, we will miss each of you very much, so please stay in touch.
