Steve S. - surgery - fb
Without being too dramatic here, we need to give you a quick update so you can pray. Steve does need more surgery. His scheduled 3-month check-up for his July hernia surgery revealed another hernia in a different location. And yesterday, bad pain in another location confirmed the presence of yet another hernia. Because Steve has a weak abdominal wall that needs strengthening, the repair of both hernias requires open surgery with mesh. Because excellent medical facilities in the Philippines are so close and are less expensive, we are pursuing having the surgery done in Manila as soon as next week.
Would you pray?
We need confirmation of the Philippines option and God’s grace in making the necessary preparations and arrangements, including assistance with housing, getting the right kind of food for our diet, and resolution of insurance issues. Thank God for the help of many brothers and sisters in Christ in the Philippines, Palau, and Guam to make this happen. Pray also for successful surgery and a shorter-than-normal recovery time (maybe 2 weeks instead of 4 weeks?), and that we could still be on schedule for finishing the missionary training next July.
Special requests: God’s financial provision for the flights from Palau to the Philippines – they are terribly expensive ($700 to $1000/person round trip), and that this would be a springboard for renewed spiritual vigor and physical stamina for our lives and ministry, and not just for us, but also for the missionary trainees. We all need prayer to not grow weary in our spirits, to persevere with joy, and to draw closer to Jesus during this time.
Besides that, we’re doing well!
Thank you so much for your friendship, faithfulness in praying, and your financial support. God uses all three gifts to sustain us.

John M. - father - fb
I normally don't post anything on facebook, but this posting is important. One of my best friends passed away on Sunday; my father. He was 82. As I was growing up he was my mentor, best friend and father. Those attributes remained until this past Sunday when his heart stopped.
During my teenage years when fathers and son's were supposed to have a generation gap and it was the popular thing to do, there wasn't one. Don't get me wrong, we fought from time to time, disagreed often, but thinking back, he was usually right. Now as I'm older and maybe a little wiser, he was always right.
He helped me get into the same industry that he worked and serviced. After 35 years, I'm glad he did. He was provided very well for his family. I too have been blessed in this industry and have done the same. To his end, it was always a conversation piece and he was always interested in how I was doing. This industry was a focal point even when there wasn't much to discuss. Looking back he was a great father and dad. He will be missed a lot!!!

Ron M.-ear-fb
Just finished a trip to my doctor. Seems I have a ear infection. Really don't have time for this. Hate ear aches. Too much going on not to feel well. But I know my God will keep me strong. God is so good!

Jennifer S.- adoption - fb
Alright Facebook family/friends...I am asking for prayer again. I am calling in the "BIG guns" with the state adoption coordinators...this is our one last stitched effort to attempt to adopt our little man. I don't really know if there is anything that he can do but I do know that there is NOTHING that God cannot do. So please pray that God would make a way for our son to come home and become our legal son!

Joanne and Chris G. - fb
So thankful for leaders and friends who have taken the time to visit and pray. There is a long road ahead, but it all begins with one step at a time. In the meantime, the strawberry frap and thoughtful gifts remind me I'm not alone. I'm especially thankful that my "sister" has hardly left my side. Between her and Chris I expect we will have more answers soon. My other "sister" has kindly taken in my precious son. Thank you Jesus for your faithfulness and unconditional love.
