Tony Compollo - Hospital/ Health

Below was shared by Mark Hollingsworth

An update on Tony Campolo from his son, Bart, as he continues to work his way back from the stroke he suffered in June:

"Dad’s working hard in rehab, but his progress is slow. He’s got a great attitude, however, especially in light of the fact that even my mother still isn’t allowed into his room. Instead, she spends much of each hot summer day masked and perched on a plastic chair in the bushes outside his open window, talking with him through the screen. The rest of us do the same when we visit, in between socially distant picnics with Mom at a nearby park."

"Regardless, it looks like my folks' recovery / adjustment is going to be a long and difficult process. In the meantime, my father is still thoughtful and funny and intense and prayerful. He’s more patient now, however, and more peaceful as well. While I was there, we talked about theology and politics, basketball and movies, grandkids (and his one great-grandkid) and legacies, all with an overriding sense of wonder and gratitude. As usual, I was inspired by the richness of his life. My mother is worried about the future, and exhausted in the present, but she too is slowly learning to find meaning, and even bits of joy, in the midst of this crisis."

"You know, kind of like we’re all doing right now."
