Salvation Army Philippines - Volcano

Due to the ash fall from Taal Volcano, for the safety of employees, Territorial Headquarters in Manila will be closed tomorrow. The Salvation Army near to Taal Volcano continues to be available to support families at this difficult time.

Let us pray for all those affected by the eruption in Taal and all the people involved in responding to the situation.

"So turns out my baby is very sick. Yesterday doctor said it was just a cold. Please pray for healing. He has pneumonia and an ear infection. Last night was scary with a 104.9 fever, almost took him to ER. But we got it down and made it to the doctors today... second day in a row. I’m just glad we know what it is. It was scary."

"On January 27th I will be undergoing surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma from under my left eye. On January 28, the surgeon will attempt to re-attach skin there. I ask for prayers that I will be calm as I undergo this procedure and that the surgeon will have steady hands. Thank you and God bless."

Farewell to Larry & Carlene

We thank God for brother Larry and sister Carlene for their many years of service at the Gresham Salvation Army Family Services Food Pantry and Data Input. May God go before them and prepare their upcoming chapter in their lives. Thank you Larry and Carlene! We will miss you!

Puerto Rico Earthquake

Power is expected to be slowly restored to all homes in Puerto Rico over the coming days in the aftermath of a 6.4 magnitude earthquake that left many residents sleeping outside their homes and more than 2,000 others in shelters. The strongest and likely most damaging of hundreds of temblors that have struck the island since December 28 hit before dawn Tuesday. It left one man dead and caused dozens of homes and other structures to crumble. With three major power plants expected to return to service between Thursday and Saturday, Puerto Rico Electric Energy Authority CEO Jose Ortiz said the entire US territory -- with about 3 million residents -- could have power by the weekend.
