Charles H. - Dara's Health update

Update on Dara - May 24:

- She was transferred from hospital to rehab facility Wednesday night, May 20.
- When she left hospital her creatine levels were still at 3.6. Still hoping for decrease in levels, but kidney doctor said this could be her new baseline, not requiring dialysis, but needing close monitoring, in case the levels start to increase. They performed a CT scan before she left the hospital to check the stents and drainage tubing to see if they required adjustment, which might explain why her creatine levels had stopped lowering. CT scan revealed no problems.
- No visitors allowed at rehab facility due to strict restrictions put in place as a result of Covid19. Very difficult for both of us.
- She is receiving excellent care from friendly, caring, professional health care providers.
- Dara's strength, mobility and endurance were at the low end before her current health challenge, and she is now much weaker. But, OT and PT staff are working with her to increase her strength and endurance to allow better mobility, i.e. standing, walking. She also has minimal use of her left hand due to severe carpal tunnel syndrome, so they are treating this also.
- Kidney stones will be removed at some point when her strength and health improve.
- She also has large cyst on one of her ovaries that they are sure is benign based on ultrasound examination, but they have referred her to a gynecologist for further examination.

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and concern. Dara continually tells me to thank everyone. It is a blessing to her to know so many care about her.

Our oldest daughter Cassie, husband Rob and four of their six children, Sarah, Laura, Hannah and Daniel have been with me since this past Thursday. What a help and blessing to have them here, but I keep thinking I wish Dara was here to enjoy these moments. I miss her so much.
