Leticia S.

Major Leticia S. has been placed in Comfort Care at Straub Hospital in Honolulu. It is fully expected that she will be Promoted to Glory in the next day or so. Major Brian and Holden truly appreciate the prayerful support that has been given them by comrades throughout the Western Territory. While they are grieving, they are also fully confident in God's goodness and faithfulness. Leticia has expressed that she is ready to be with the Lord forever. We celebrate the imminent reality of her future glory.

May the Lord be with Brian and Holden during this difficult time. May His peace be upon them to comfort and strenthen them. May the Lord hold Leticia's hand as he calls her home! May the Lord pour His Spirit upon this family!

Rev. 21: 10-11> And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

Kettle Workers

Please lift all the Kettle workers up in your prayers as they are out ringing the bells to raise money for The Salvation Army. Today is perhaps going to be the coldest day of the year. It's 3 degrees now in Denver towards the afternoon. May the Lord strengthen each one and give them the stamina to stay warm. May the Lord Be with them and speak to each one today!

Evan Update

From my wife's sister:
By the way - Evan is doing well. The doctor said that when he was putting in the tubes, most of the infection had already cleared up. The tubes will hopefully keep him from getting ear infections in the near future which is the key since he is allergic to the most common remedy - the amoxicillin antibiotic. Thanks all for your prayer support.

Praise the Lord for little Evan's health. May He continue to strengthen him physically and fill his spirit!

Mike G

Mike, a long time employee of The Salvation Army, passed away last night. After he he completed playing his bass guitar, raising money for The Salvation Army Kettle, he collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the University Hospital.

May the Lord be with his family during this difficult time of loss. May His Spirit be upon them to comfort and to strengthen them. May the Lord go before them and bless them as they prepare for the funeral. May this funeral be a celebration of Mike's legacy. In all, may God get all the glory and honor!

Little Evan

from my wife's sister:
Evan's pediatrician sent me to the ENT Specialist at Children's Hospital today following his check-up. He said that the build-up of fluid and puss behind his ear was concerning him. We went to the specialist. She agreed it was in very bad condition. She wasn't able to drain his ear because it would be too painful without sedating him. So - He has an appointment for Monday morning at 6.40 am to prep for his surgery. His surgery will be at 8.40 am. Not only will they drain the ear but we've decided that he should go ahead and get tubes put in since this would prevent most ear infections in the future. And since he's allergic to a common antibiotic, that would be a smart thing to do. He is a good boy. Praise God for flexible and good-spirited kids.

May the Lord go before Evan and prepare the way for his surgery! May the Lord be with the Doctors/helpers as they get ready for this surgery. May the Lord comfort and pour His wonderful peace upon the Jones family during this anxious/difficult time. Above all, may God be glorified in this event in Evan's life!

Tom F.

I share with you the following information on Captain Tom F. Captain Tom F. has been battling a number of debilitating health conditions and has now experienced further serious setbacks including the need to remain on oxygen when ambulatory (caused by pulmonary arterial hypertension). There is also the possibility of lymphoma in the liver/pancreas but we are hopeful that tests will reveal benign mesenteric panniculitis. A more complete diagnosis will be known on December 7. This is obviously an extremely difficult time for Tom, Laura and daughter Meaghan. Your prayers are greatly needed and deeply appreciated.

May the Lord be upon Tom! May He give Tom the strength and comfort during this difficult time. May His Healing Hand touch Tom's body and Heal Tom! May the Lord comfort Laura and Meaghan during this difficult time. As with Job in the Bible, may Tom continue to be used mightily to give God the glory and honor! May all who hear and see Tom's battle with his health see the grand victory in Christ!

Kettle Workers

Please pray for our bell ringers as they are out ringing the bell to raise funds for the Salvation Army. Today, it snowed. May the Lord shine through these folks as they greet each one who passes by. May they be kept healthy and warm today (and all the days ahead). Praise the Lord!

Baby Evan

This prayer request is from Ann (my wife's sister).
Well, I ended up taking Evan to the ER again about 4.30 am this morning (12/01). He was wheezing and had broken out in hives and blisters. The doctor believes that it is still an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin. He was given a breathing treatment, 2 doses of Benadryl and 2 steroid injections in the legs. His ear was still very bad.Later today, I will give him one more dose of the steroid. Please pray this will be the end of it. If it gets worse, he will need to be admitted.
For now, he is at least sleeping.

May the Lord continue to strengthen Evan and heal him completely! May He give Ann and Gwyn and family comfort during this difficult time. May His Peace be upon them! In all, may little Evan's experience be used mightily to give God all the Glory and Honor!

Natural Disasters

From our TSA Site: http://www.salvationarmy.org/ihq/www_sa.nsf

The Salvation Army Begins Response to South Pacific Tsunami
SALVATION Army officers and personnel from the New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga Territory are providing assistance to people evacuated to New Zealand from some of the communities affected by the tsunami that brought devastation to Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga. Plans are also under way to provide direct assistance in the affected areas.

The tsunami – triggered by a strong earthquake in the South Pacific – killed more than 100 people and forced many thousands from their homes. At least 77 people were reported dead in Samoa, more than 25 in American Samoa and at least six in Tonga.

Working in partnership with New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Salvation Army emergency team based at Auckland International Airport is providing support for people being evacuated from Samoa. The support ranges from counselling to the provision of material necessities and the arrangement of accommodation.

The territory is also sending an assessment team to Samoa and American Samoa on Saturday 3 October with the remit of evaluating the ongoing level of assistance and support needed by the Government and communities of these islands. Once the assessment is completed and any gaps in the response have been identified with the Samoan Government and communities, a disaster recovery team will be sent with a range of skills to work in this phase of the response.

Territorial Commander Commissioner Donald Bell says: 'It is our intention also to set up personnel and processes in Apia, Western Samoa, to manage the allocation and use of donated funds.’

In planning its response The Salvation Army is working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other agencies.

Will M

Please pray for Will, our Football Coach, who is currently suffering from a groin injury (sport related). May the Lord comfort Will during this difficult time and may His healing Hand be upon Him. May His Peace and strength envelops Will's mind, soul and body!

Youth Councils

From our Youth Secretary, Captain Raymond Erickson-King: "Youth Councils is just a few days away!! A lot of prayer and planning has gone into this special event for our youth and young adults. This year's them is entitled "Out Cry" that is based from Psalm 40:1, which says, "I waited patiently for the Lord. He turned to me and heard my cry." This week please keep this event in your prayers. Many make life-changing decisions in serving and living for God."

May the Lord bless this time as youth and young adults come together to focus on the Lord. May the Lord speak into each heart to change--to be more like Christ, or receive Christ for the firt time! May this mountain top experience be truly a life altering experience for each who comes. May the Lord guide each leader and give each the wisdom needed to connect and to plant the seed(s) of life (the knowledge of our Lord Jesus). Above all, may all leave Camp giving God all the Glory and honor for His Goodness and Grace!

Preparers of the Way

Mike J. is the strong silent type and while some of us know, others don’t that he is still struggling with the same leg infection he had in training. In fact, the infection is now classified as a “staph” infection. All of us who know Michael understand how important his physicality is to him in sports and in other ways. Mike is a big strong teddy bear and needs what he is too tough and strong to ask for DAILY PRAYER. So, I am asking for the whole session to commit to 30 minutes of prayer a day for Michael and Rachel as she helps take care of him for the next month. All of us, for the rest of August. The reason is that if by the end of the next two weeks there is no progress he will be admitted for IV antibiotics and then who knows what.

Fr. Tommy F.

I don't know how many of you know, but Kory was diagnosed with Lupus a couple of years ago but it has been getting worse the last few months. She was told she has a chromosome in her DNA that triggers auto immune illnesses. Which means she will continue getting illnesses that are not curable. Please be praying for her health.

Fr. Luis A.

We are struggling financially...big time. Mark has a job interview this morning. We really need him to get a job soon. Please pray for a successful interview!

Fr. Monica K.

May the Lord be with Mike as He heals him (in accordance with His Will and Timing) from this problem with his leg. In this moment, may His peace which passes all understanding be upon him! May His Spirit of comfort fill Him to overflow. May God's strength be Mike's strength during this difficult time. May the Lord's enduring Power be upon Kory. As the Apostle Paul struggled with a thorn in his side and yet depended upon the Lord's sufficient Grace, may our Lord give Kory the same strength to press on. May the world see this strength manifested in Kory's life and give God the Glory! May the Lord intervene in Mark's job hunting and show Mark His faithful provision. If this is God's Will for Mark to get this particular job (and we pray that it is), then may this job be used in a powerful way to minister to fellow employees and customers. We commit everything unto our Lord's Throne--the One who always looks after His children. To God be the Glory!

IM Division Mission Trip

As you will know, the Intermountain Division has set as one of it's goals for the 2009 program year the conducting of a missions trip to our partner territory which is Southern Africa. A team of twelve officers, soldiers and employees of the division will be representing us in this exciting venture which is scheduled to take place from October 29 - November 13, 2009. The Intermountain team will be doing a variety of activities while in South Africa which will include some painting and remodeling of a Corps facility, providing training in homemaking skills, leading and participating in youth oriented activities and conducting worship services in several locations over their thirteen days in the West Cape Division of the Southern Africa Territory. In all, the Intermountain team will visit eleven Corps in their thirteen days in country.

The team will be led by Majors George and Jeanne Baker and the remaining team members are as follows:

Major Deborah G. -- Salt Lake City Citadel Corps
Captain Judy B. -- Centennial Corps
Captain Roberta M. -- Divisional Headquarters
Captain Dave S. -- Cheyenne Corps
Captain Mike H. -- Ft. Collins Corps
Captain Harold L. -- Pueblo Corps
Paul B. -- DHQ (Employee)
Leah M. -- DHQ (Employee)
Erin K. -- Centennial Corps (Soldier/Employee)
Michelle M. -- Centennial Corps (Soldier/Employee)

Fr. D.C.

May the Lord help and guide this team to finalize all the details (financially and interpersonally--with a common bond with purpose and vision). I think of the Apostle Paul's 3 Mission Trips! May the Lord go before this team and prepare the minds and hearts that will be ministered to. May the people see Jesus in this team's work and ministy and put their faith in Jesus! May this team be used mightily to further the Kingdom of God and give Him all the Honor and glory.

U.S. Soldier

Dear Friends: We have received tha attached urgent request for prayer for the young soldier who is being held by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Would you forward this to your Corps? We know that it cannot arrive in time for next Sunday's Corps Bulletins, but, if every Corps stops now to take a moment and pray, then God will hear the prayer of thousands of people who believe in prayer!

"Dear Salvationists and friends:

We need to team up and pray for Bowe Bergdahl, the 23 year old soldier being held captive by the Taliban in Afghanistan. I believe without a miracle, this boy is as good as dead. He's scared and telling the cameras what they want him to say Lets really pray for him...not just when you get this email but daily until he's released.
