Jim G. - Wife Rachel's Update

Good news from Rachel's ocular oncologist; her tumor (after radiation therapy has shrunk from 6 mm to 5.09 mm. We are grateful for the medical technology which can make this happen. She has another appointment in a couple of months to continue to check on progress. Tomorrow she has a full body scan again (every 4 months) to be sure the cancer has remained stagnant. Prayers continue to be appreciated, and we know that we have a God who both wept with Mary and Martha, and also restores the blind, and loves us despite our difficult nature's. We thank you all for continued prayers.

Prayer requests:

Points to praise God

The Territory has new leadership since May 2023 – Colonel John William and Colonel Ratna Sundari Polimetla

IFAS training in different levels, conducted by IHQ and implemented in the Territory.

Conference of Senior Leaders held 04 & 05 July 2023, enabled new leadership to understand better of the territory.

Territorial Leaders undertook forty days of journey, visiting officers, soldiers and people in 310 corps, planting coconut saplings, wherever possible.

Territorial concerns for prayer

Movement of Officers, including Section Heads and senior leaders, to settle down to focus on goals and objectives already in place.

Self-Denial efforts have begun that funds would come as prayed and planned throughout the territory.

Better functioning of Governance system, by adhering to the regulations of committees and Councils, approved by THQ.

The training session for “Defenders of Justice” is progressing now on online mode and second year cadets visit college only for a week for special classes and examinations.

There will be no training session next year, due to no candidates prepared for training and territory tries hard to have candidates for 2025 session.

The health issues of both active and retired officers, that they continue to live healthy and serve as much as they can.

Caste system is alive still, though we try various ways to mitigate and eliminate. This brings a huge negative impact for administration in all levels of our ministry.
Projects have not been completed, due to issues related to obtaining Government permission for constructions.

Training for Corps Helpers who need Salvation Army discipline in worship, uniform wearing, sacramental teaching, orders and regulations.

To utilize the assets of the Army and to reduce risks that we maintain the reputation of the Army.

More evangelical campaigns to strengthen the corps and to plant more Corps for which Evangelist and Corps Growth officer is appointed.

Financial Training to happen shortly to teach corps officers and institutional officer how to handle cash books and adhere to Government compliances with FCRA regulation.

As part of this each corps has worked on a project to benefit their community (See Facebook – Salvation Army Fiji 50th Anniversary for pictures and information)

Kari R. - Husbands - Surgery/Health

July 2nd. We knew something was off. Three months in. Several specialists. Two epidurals. Multiple nerve meds. Minimal relief.

Exhausted. Eric insists on preaching. His studies and teaching keeps him grounded, while remaining connected.

Taking care of a loved one is taxing. There’s an undercurrent of low grade anxiety. The helplessness leads to hopelessness. Not every day. Just the harder ones.

Surgery tomorrow morning. Depleted, I turn to God. And The Father reminds me of how He has taken care of everything. He has brought in practical support. Friends to prayerfully uplift. Christ’s PEACE to carry us through. Truly grateful.

Pray for Libya - 2K dead and Thousands missing

Thousands are feared to have died in floods that engulfed Libya’s east after Storm Daniel smashed into the North African country, swallowing whole neighborhoods and, with them, an unknown number of residents.

The city of Derna has been most acutely affected, after raging torrents of water tore through two dams and swept entire buildings into the sea. Othman Abdul Jalil, health minister and spokesman of the U.N.-recognized government in western Libya, told local television channel al-Masar that the situation continues to deteriorate in the eastern city, and at least 2,000 people have been found dead.

“I expect numbers of dead will rise to 10,000,” he told the channel early on Tuesday. The final death toll remains unknown, as many parts of the city remain inaccessible, he said. Derna is estimated to have had around 90,000 residents.

Pray for Morocco - More than 2400 people died from earthquake

A devastating earthquake has left more than 2,400 dead and thousands injured in Morocco, prompting international aid efforts and a response from Christian groups Convoy of Hope and Operation Rescue, among others.

The epicenter of the 6.8-magnitude quake was in the High Atlas mountains, about 45 miles southwest of Marrakech, making it the strongest earthquake to hit Morocco in 120 years, according to media reports.

Many fatalities are in hard-to-reach areas south of Marrakech, Sky News reported, adding that there are fears one such town could record 2,000 deaths alone. As of early Monday, the official toll stood at 2,497 confirmed dead and at least 2,059 people injured, including 1,404 seriously hurt.

Convoy of Hope is mobilizing to provide essential resources to the affected areas, according to its press release, which says the organization aims to deliver food, water, hygiene supplies, shelter, blankets, and generators to survivors.
