Holiday Complete

Praise the Lord for being with us and guiding us during this Christmas season. Everything went well as planned. About 650 families were helped by our center with toys and food boxes. The kettle fundraising campaign fell short of our goal, but we praise the Lord for providing! The American people are so genereous!

“Prayer is neither a reminder to God of what we need, as though He had forgotten us, nor is it a formal act of mere outward reverence to impress God by a ceremony. It really is an attitude of spirit to prepare us for what we need and to qualify us to receive what God has provided and also to express our gratitude to Him for His goodness.”

May all who attend leave this event as changed people!

Praise Report - It's All Worth It!

After my Salvation Army membership class last night at the Adult Rehabilitation Center (30 people in all), one of the men came to me at the end of the class and expressed that he wanted to surrender his life to Christ. What a previlege and honor to lead someone to Christ! After he had accepted Jesus into his heart, I told him that the Bible says that when one person comes to Christ, the Angels in heaven rejoices! Praise the Lord for Dawan that he has been made alive in Christ!

Western Bible Conference

Last week, my wife and I, along with 500 folks from the Salvation Army gathered at Mount Hermon for a weeklong 'renewal' conference. It was such a fulfilling and exciting time, both personally and corporately. It was a mountaintop experience, in a spiritual sense. Now, we all have come home (back to the valley if you will). Will we continue to carry this flame that we have experienced, or go back to our old ways and routines? May it be not so! May we be filled on a regular basis to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ! May we deepen our relationship with the Lord on our knees! May it be so! Amen!

Wesley S.

Major Wesley S. (Retired) will be having surgery on Monday, August 30, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. (Mountain time zone). Please keep Wes, Ruth, and the doctors in your prayers.
*May the Lord strengthen Major during this time. May the surgery goes well and may he recovers quickly. May His peace be upon him and his wife.

TSA Western Territory Prayer Requests

Dear Friends, Please pray for the many prayer requests in the attached list. God is doing wonderful miracles of healing and comforting.

A recent Salvationist article on prayer talked about a character in a play in a chapel who was heard to say:while lighting a candle, "I'm getting the hang of this praying thing!' His colleague replies, "You better be careful you don't set off the fire alarm!" Perhaps we need to set off some alarms with "red hot" praying!

God is answering prayer in beautiful ways in the territory. The attached list is changing all the time. How we praise God for YOUR faithful prayers!

Blessings!

Dear Friends,

Re: Prayer For Children Sunday August 1, 2010.
We are pleased to share with you the special observance installment for The Salvation Army's World Prayer Initiative - 'Prayer for Children' which is scheduled for August 1, 2010.
The special observance program day - 'Prayer for Children day', as decided by the International Conference of Leaders and the General, is to take place on the closest Sunday to July 30 each year - this being the date , in 1880, on which the evangelical work among children began in response to the passionate representations made to the Founder by Captain John Roberts.

The theme for this years, 'Prayer for Children' Sunday is ‘Children, Come!’ based on Matthew 19:13-16.
Use the link below to download the Program for the 'Prayer For Children' Special Observance. When prompted, click SAVE. The file will be titled 'PFC'. Once the file has saved, locate and open the file and use as usual.

Youth Works

Praise the Lord for Youth Works in coordinating different churches to minister to the kids at Red Shield. They have sent different youth groups and leaders since July 8th (Summer Day Camp ends on Aug. 6th). This week, for example, a youth group from Indianapolis (Free Methodist Church) was here. Tomorrow, they leave for Col. Springs and then head back home. What a wonderful opportunity to connect different organizations and minister in the Lord's Name. May the Lord bless Youth Works, its Leadership and its ministries! May this Summer never be forgotten, in terms of what God has done through people!
