8 killed / 33 wounded - Church shooting in Pakistan

Church Attack Pakistan

Eight people are dead and 33 others wounded after an attack on a church in Quetta, Pakistan. Worshippers were gathered at Bethel Memorial Methodist Church for a midday service on Sunday, December 17, 2017 when the attack occurred.
At least two people were involved in carrying out the attack, which was two-pronged. A suicide bomber detonated his device at the gate of the church. A second attacker fired upon the worshippers. Security forces were able to prevent the gunman from entering the sanctuary and eventually killed him, stopping the gunfire.
“People were fleeing to the corners [of the church]. I couldn’t understand what was happening; it happened so suddenly,” a woman who was inside the church, and wished to remain anonymous, told reporters.
The provincial police chief, Moazzam Jah, said “there were nearly 400 people inside the church.” Jah says had the police guards not been able to prevent the second attackers from entering the sanctuary, the death toll would have been much higher. He praised his guards for their quick action. Security guards were in place at the church due to the increased attendance they are expecting in the Christmas season.
Two accomplices to the attack escaped, and police are currently searching for them. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Pray for Dr. RC Sproul - Ligonier Ministry

R.C. Sproul

The update asked for prayers for Dr. Sproul. The founder of Ligonier, Sproul was admitted to the hospital on December 3, 2017. Successive updates after that date inform us he is in serious condition, currently sedated and breathing with the assistance of a ventilator. Doctors believe his condition is an exacerbation of emphysema induced by the flu. They are closely monitoring the fluid in his lungs.Ligonier Ministries informed its followers last week that their founder, R.C. Sproul, was admitted to the hospital for respiratory difficulties. An update yesterday, December 10, 2017, reports Sproul is not improving “as we had hoped” and that these next few days are “critical.”
Yesterday, this update was published:
Dr. Sproul is not improving as we had hoped and so these next few days are critical. He has a fever today due to the infection he has been fighting. Moreover, he is not decreasing in his reliance on the ventilator to support his breathing.
Your prayers in behalf of Dr. Sproul are deeply appreciated. They mean so much to the family and all who love R.C.
We will keep you informed here on the blog and on Facebook and Twitter if his condition changes.
Many have been greatly helped by the teaching of Sproul, a well-respected apologist and preacher in reformed circles. Perhaps his best-known work is his book The Holiness of God. Sproul also serves as co-pastor of Saint Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, Florida. His radio program, Renewing Your Mind, is widely circulated along with his videos.
Please join us as we pray for his recovery and the comfort of his anxious family.

Christmas Season and Kingdom Work - Hilo

Greetings and Merry Christmas from the Officer Care and Development Department. I know you are extremely busy with the extra demands of the Christmas season, and so this email comes to assure you of our prayer support in all you are doing for His Kingdom’s sake. You are to be commended for your faithfulness in doing God’s work, and my prayer is that daily His anointing and blessing would rest upon you. I pray that every need would be supplied, and that many souls would be reached with the life changing message of our Lord’s Incarnation. Gracious Father, let Your sweet anointing and blessing from Your hand rest upon Your servants, Celestine and Shoshannah. Thank You for their dedication and deep commitment to You. Bless their family, and meet them at their point of need. I ask that they would have a very successful kettle drive, raising all the resources required to continue to serve the needs of their community. Bless their children, and keep them safe from harm and danger. I ask this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen. “Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” (Psalm 100:1-4). Major Harry Lacey

26 Dead at Church Shooting

SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Tex. — A gunman clad in all black, with a ballistic vest strapped to his chest and a military-style rifle in his hands, opened fire on parishioners at a Sunday service at a small Baptist church in rural Texas, killing at least 26 people and turning this tiny town east of San Antonio into the scene of the country’s newest mass horror.

The gunman was identified by the Texas Department of Public Safety as Devin Patrick Kelley, 26. Mr. Kelley, who lived in New Braunfels, Tex., died shortly after the attack.

He had served in the Air Force at a base in New Mexico but was court-martialed in 2012 on charges of assaulting his wife and child. He was sentenced to 12 months’ confinement and received a “bad conduct” discharge in 2014, according to Ann Stefanek, the chief of Air Force media operations.

The motive for the attack was unclear on Sunday, but the grisly nature of it could not have been clearer: Families gathered in pews, clutching Bibles and praying to the Lord, were murdered in cold blood on the spot.

Douglas M. - Family health

Some of you may have seen this post from my wife, Storm M.! We try not to share a lot of our family business, but there are days when you need community around you to help "carry" the burden a little further! We told our families and higher-up's yesterday. Thanks for reading!

New update on Xander. We went to the neurologist yesterday and, while we did get a suspected diagnosis (further testing to confirm), that news was devastating. The neurologist suspects that he has Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disorder (CMT). It is a form of Muscular Dystrophy that affects the nerves and causes loss of sensation in the limbs and subsequently causing the hands and feet to draw up unnaturally because of loss of muscle tone. Because his symptoms started almost immediately after birth, with signs of a neurological disorder before birth, they suspect that he has the more severe form of the disorder. It does not affect life span but it does affect quality of life quite a bit depending on how severely the limbs draw up. He will have an MRI done very soon and genetic testing to confirm the diagnosis. He will see a physical therapist next week to determine the best treatment for his feet. He will likely be in braces and orthotics for the rest of his life and may need surgery because his are already drawn up pretty badly. It just seems that my precious boy can’t catch a break. He has Autism, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, ADHD and now this. I really thought that whatever his diagnosis was would lead us to the cause of his Autism but instead we received something completely new and unrelated. Please pray for us as we navigate even more specialists, treatments and emotions that come with processing this new diagnosis.

Christa S. - health

"This will be my last status on Facebook for some time. It has been decided by leadership that my tone does not properly reflect the character of The Salvation Army. I am accused of being too harsh, condescending, quick tempered, and unbecoming of an officer. And while they do see value in my role as an officer, my leaders are concerned the continued use of social media is a destructive path for me; one that very well may cost me my Officership if I am unwilling to cooperate with their directive.

Effective today, I am to remove myself from all forms of social media which include the use of Facebook, Twitter and my WordPress blog. Perhaps I have been too bold in my dealings - that is something I will make a matter of sincere prayer. I want nothing more than to bring honor and glory to my Lord and Savior and to do the will of my Heavenly Father. If this is His will for me, then I must humbly accept this discipline as put forward by the authority He has placed over me. Please keep me in your prayers as I seek God's will for new ways to share the message of the Gospel and help the lost find their way to our Savior. God bless you all."

DC’s desk - Prayers

Good morning friends,

This past couple of weeks has been difficult as we have witnessed natural disasters in Texas, Florida, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Puerta Rico. We have been moved with compassion in support of those impacted by these devastating events. Thank you for your prayers and support of those impacted by these disasters.

And now unfortunately an unthinkable act of horror took place last night in Las Vegas. It is impossible to fathom this kind of evil. While we have many questions as to the why, there are no easy answers to such an evil act. Do know that Salvation Army officers and soldiers stationed in Las Vegas are on the scene providing counseling at the hospitals as well as food and drinks to those donating blood for the many victims at area hospitals.

So how do we respond in the midst of evil? Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." In the midst of evil we need to shine the light of Jesus to remind others that even in despair there is always hope in Jesus. I would encourage all of us to greet others with a smile, a hug, and perhaps a word of encouragement. These simple acts can have profound impacts on others.

God bless each of you.

Sincerely,

JOHN M. C.

Divisional Leader

Julie S.- Son Andrew

Angelina K.- Nathan’s Health

"Yesterday, my sister-in-law, Danielle, posted about her son Nathan being in the emergency room. This is an update from his aunt. Would you please pray for Nathan? He is a wonderful, young man.

**Update** on my nephew, Nathan A B. For those that don't know, he has not been feeling well but pretty much, I believe, chalked it up to the stress he's under with College, working, not sleeping (like we all do) and he finally went to Urgent Care on Sunday. The Dr called my sister and said he needs to go to the ER as his blood pressure is so high he was concerned he could have a stroke. After running tests, the found that he's in Renal (Kidney) failure. What the heck?!?! He had a 4 hour round of dialysis today and if they can keep his blood pressure down then they will biopsy the kidneys tomorrow morning. He has horrible headaches, nausea, sweating, etc. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He's only 25 and a really kind hearted, super intelligent, all about family kind of young man. I love him so much and just want them to figure out the cause, as of right now the Drs are baffled as to why this is happening."

Sid S. - praying for our Army

"Ok Everyone, tomorrow starts the beginning of our PRAYER time together.  I will go to our buildings chapel room at 9:00 am sharp PACIFIC TIME.  For those who will join me, if you are able to take time to pray at the same time so we may appeal to God together.  That would be 12 noon Eastern Standard (right John?) and could be as late as 2:00 am if you are in Austraulia (if you can't sleep, join).

My prayers will be for the Army to have a revival back to the historic truths that we have always stood upon.  Also, that more officers who believe that truth join, and bring back the zeal that the Army had many years ago.  Thanks to anyone who can join, and if you cannot, do it sometime during the day when you can, for at least 15 minutes of devoted prayer.

Thanks everyone! :)"

Over all, the earthquake — the most powerful to hit the country in a century — killed at least 58 people in Mexico, all of them in the southern part of the country that was closer to the quake’s epicenter off the Pacific Coast. 1,200 Dead/41 Million - India, Bangladesh and Nepal

1,200 Dead, 41 Million Affected by Flooding in India, Bangladesh and Nepal By Andy Rowell As much of the North American media focuses on the ongoing unprecedented flooding and relief efforts in Texas and now potentially Louisiana, another tragedy is unfolding, which is going largely unreported, in Asia. Whereas the death toll in Texas stands at 20, the death toll in South Asia is estimated at 1,200 after weeks of unusually strong monsoon rains affecting India, Bangladesh and Nepal. The Red Cross estimates that 14 million people have been affected by flooding in India; more than seven million in Bangladesh and 1.5 million in Nepal. The United Nations puts the total number of people affected by floods and landslides at a total nearly double that, at 41 million. How to Pray in Response to Natural Disasters - Featured Article

3 Ways Every Leader Should Pray in Response to Natural Disasters 5:00PM EDT 9/6/2017 STEVE MURRELL How should we pray in situations like these? What should we pray? (Pixabay/Himsan) This past weekend, tropical storm Harvey hit the Gulf Coast of the United States, dumping record levels of rain on Louisiana and Texas, including the city of Houston. As a result of the widespread flooding, at least 30 people have died and tens of thousands of people have had to flee their homes. On the other side of the world, summer monsoon rains have caused devastating floods in Bangladesh, Nepal and India, killing more than 1,200 people and displacing millions from their homes. At the same moment Houston is under water, so is Mumbai. Whenever I hear about natural disasters around the world and see photos of the devastation, I am often at a loss. What can I do from Nashville or Manila (or in this case Honolulu) where I am safe from the storms that are tearing apart cities, homes, and families? At Every Nation, we often encourage people to pray, give and go. If you live in or near one of these cities, in the coming weeks and months, I would recommend volunteering with a Christian relief organization. My sons and I volunteered with Samaritan's Purse when they helped rebuild homes that had been destroyed during the Nashville flood in 2010. Sometimes, Every Nation churches mobilize our own efforts, as when Typhoon Haiyan struck Tacloban, Philippines in 2013, and other times, we partner with organizations like Samaritan's Purse. If you can't go, I would also encourage you to give, as most people do not have funds or insurance to rebuild their homes and are often reliant on relief organizations or the government to rebuild their homes and livelihoods after the water recedes. But in this blog, I want to focus on prayer. How should we pray in situations like these? What should we pray? Here are three ways we should pray: 1. Pray with sorrow. The loss of life and the devastation to cities and homes is tragic, and it should move us to mourning. Even if we don't have intimate links with the cities and peoples affected, we should be moved with sorrow because God is moved with sorrow. While it might be easier to move on with our very busy lives without skipping a beat, it is healthy for our souls to pause, think about what has happened and mourn. Paul calls us to "weep with those who weep" (Rom. 12:15). This is where our prayers should start. 2. Pray with specificity. What should we pray for when there are literally thousands, even millions, of needs and urgent requests? How can we avoid vague prayers that are so general they cover everything—yet ask God for nothing? I tend to focus my prayers on the people or at least churches I know in the region. For example, in Houston, I am praying for Chris Pate and City Life Church; and in South Asia, I am praying for Kevin Menezes and Every Nation Mumbai, as well as our missionaries (who cannot be named) in Bangladesh. I am praying that God would protect their families and homes, as well as give them wisdom as they minister to people who have lost everything and mobilize their churches to serve their communities in the days and months. 3. Pray with hope. When I look at the Bible, I am reminded that God always has redemptive purposes, even after a flood. The devastation grieves Him even more than it grieves us, but He is in the business of bringing new life in the wake of death and hope in the midst of hopelessness. There are many Scriptures that remind us of this, but my favorite is Psalm 126, When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. ... Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like streams in the Negeb! Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! he who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy .... So let's pray. Pray with sorrow. Pray with specificity. And pray with hope. May your prayers also lead you to give and perhaps go. Butch S. - dad, brother, family

"Please pray for my family. 🙏🏽

An update: My brother is still in ICU but in stable condition. My brother had a full cardiac arrest this morning but the paramedics were able to resuscitate him.

My sister wanted to tell me after I got home since I was driving through Missoula when she told me about Bob. My brother had the cardiac arrest after finding my dad unconscious early this morning and trying to resuscitate him. The paramedics found both of them but unfortunately, my dad passed away. 😢 My heart is broken.

The blessing was that my brother called 911 before he had his cardiac arrest. Otherwise, I would have lost both my dad and brother."

David L.- deployed to help

Well, I have received "the call" along with many other Salvationists.

I will be deploying to San Antonio early Sunday to serve the victims/evacuees of Hurricane Harvey.  It should be a two week deployment.  I'll be serving people food, drinks, helping them find shelter, comforting them with a hug or a prayer: you know, all the things Jesus instructed us to do.

I ask a favor; please pray for my Sweet Pea, Geraldine L., who will be carrying on the work of the Army here in Rogers while I'm away.  Also, pray for my congregation, the flock Jesus gave me and whom I have grown to love and, yes, covet (not in a bad way).  Pray for my Momma, Helen L.  She worries about me, too.  I'm sixty, but she still calls me "baby boy".  For the record, I do not have a problem with that. 😊

I'll do my best to keep everyone informed of our work serving others in Jesus' name.

Greg L- new position

"Father, Thank you for opening a new chapter with my new employment and ministry with The Salvation Army San Bernardino ARC as Store Manager of The Salvation Army Redlands Boutique Store. I am excited and also nervous as I begin this new job. Please watch over me, anoint my working life, So that I move in your strength and not my own. Thank you for this new opportunity to serve the men at the ARC, the people in our community and most of all you Lord, Amen!"

Jonathan M. - wellbeing/health

"Wanted to give you all an update on myself. Thank you all first of all for your prayers and constant care and concern for me. I am dealing with the chronic pain better because it has backed off some gradually and also I am trying to be more tolerant when it comes in the afternoon sometimes between 3 and 7 PM. However, because of learning to stop thinking constantly and working on things all the time, I am learning to relax in the evenings before bed and try to go to bed at a decent hour. That is my biggest challenge. I'm doing some better with it.

It's very hard to be a busy person working all day and half the night and all the sudden try to stop and change your lifestyle that quickly. But we have made the transition fairly well between 2013–2017. I believe 2018 will even be a better year"

Jonathan M.- Texas (storm)

"Praying for the people in Texas as the hurricane and heavy rains move through."

Keith B - family and church

"Ladies and gentlemen I have a prayer request. Our youngest son Dylan's pastor and the church they attend is in the middle of a nightmare. The youth pastor ,who is a woman ,just came out as a lesbian. The church never had a set policy about this and you can guess the mess this church's leadership is experiencing.  Please pray the church leadership meets this challenge  head on, sticking to the Biblical standards we uphold."

Bob S. Prayer: "Praying for the youth leader to find her way back to God. Prayers for Dylan and his church. For wisdom and compassion and for the strength to stand firm."

Mike J. - wife's recovery

"Rachel is out of surgery and in the recovery room. The surgeons found and repaired a hernia. Otherwise the surgery went great. Thanks for all your love and prayers."

"Prayer request:  Tomorrow I will be having surgery.  Please pray for both Mike and I.  Pray for me that the surgery will go well.  Pray for Mike J.  as he will be taking care of me, running our back to school distribution and may still be assisting with the Milli Fire evac. center.  Thank you in advance."

12 Tragedies / 80 wounded in Barcelona

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — A white van jumped up onto a sidewalk and sped down a pedestrian zone Thursday in Barcelona's historic Las Ramblas district, swerving from side to side as it plowed into tourists and residents. Authorities said 12 people were killed and 80 were wounded, 15 of them seriously, in what they called a terror attack. The afternoon attack in the northeastern Spanish city was the country's deadliest since 2004, when al-Qaida-inspired bombers killed 192 people in coordinated attacks on Madrid's commuter trains. It left victims sprawled out in the street, spattered with blood or crippled by broken limbs. Others fled in panic, screaming or carrying young children in their arms. As witnesses and emergency workers tried to help the wounded, police brandishing hand guns launched a search of side streets looking for suspects. Commissioner Kenneth H. - Prayers for Our Country

Dear Friends: The events of the past week have been traumatic for all Americans. There is division and misunderstanding throughout the country, and many hearts are filled with bitterness and anger. It is no exaggeration to say that this has become the summer of shouting. At moments such as this, you and I can and should play a key role in helping to heal the deep spiritual wounds of our nation. Relying upon the power of the Holy Spirit for guidance, we should make ourselves available to support and pray with those who are hurting, and we should work tirelessly to ensure that, in the midst of this difficult time, men and women are reminded of the grace, the love, and the mercy of God. Let us determine, therefore, that we will not sit on the sidelines. Let us not fail to fulfill our calling as Salvationists to carry the gospel to a hurting world. Let us demonstrate in tangible ways our convictions and our confidence in a Holy God, and let us declare unashamedly that Jesus Christ is the One through whom the world can be reconciled to God and people can be reconciled to one another. To this end, I am asking that every corps and institution set aside time this Sunday for special prayers, asking God to touch the hearts and minds of our leaders, to soothe the destructive passions that now dominate the spirits of so many, and to use us in ways that will turn men and women to Christ. We know that He is the solution, and that if we cry out to Him, He will never fail to answer. Furthermore, I am asking that officers contact their community leaders and offer to organize community-wide gatherings that will help move us from fear and distress to hope and peace. Let our corps and our buildings be seen as places of love and acceptance for all. May God find us faithful at this moment. May He use us as His instruments to meet the deep-seated pain of suffering humanity. God bless you. Warmest personal regards.

64 babies died - India tragedy

Panic and tragedy ensued at a hospital in Gorakhpur, India as 64 children died after the company providing oxygen to patients allegedly cut off the air supply.

The reason for cutting off the oxygen? Unpaid medical bills—6.8 million rupees worth (£80,000).

But are 7 million rupees worth the price of 64 dead babies?

34 Tragedies - Fellow Christians in Missions

In a tragic turn of events last week, 34 people were killed in a bus crash in Madagascar, including eight Operation Christmas Child volunteers and 12 graduates from The Greatest Journey discipleship program. Samaritan’s Purse CEO Franklin Graham detailed the tragedy in a Facebook post early Friday morning, asking for prayers for those injured and the families who lost loved ones. Graham said, “Thirty-four adults and children were killed in a horrific bus crash on their way to a church service in Madagascar a few days ago. There are reports of entire families being lost in the carnage. Samaritan’s Purse has worked in this country for many years…I’m thankful they knew the Savior and are now in his presence.” According to reports, the wreck occurred when the packed bus plunged about 65 feet down a steep ravine after it struggled to climb a steep hill. The passengers were on their way to a nearby town to attend a church meeting. Unfortunately, the roads and bridges in Madagascar are often poorly maintained and these types of incidents occur frequently in the country. “It is unimaginable what happened because the car was in good condition; the papers of the vehicle were in order. My wife and my children were among the passengers. The whole family is dead,” said Elias Ralaiarimanana, a bus driver. The Greatest Journey discipleship program is offered through local churches around the world to children who enroll after receiving an Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift. The course “teaches boys and girls how to know Christ, grow in their faith and share this Good News with others.” Graham concluded the post saying, “Would you join us in praying for those who are grieving their loved ones and for the many injured? ‘For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens'” (2 Corinthians 5:1). from: http://churchleaders.com/news/308270-34-samaritans-purse-volunteers-students-killed-madagascar-bus-crash.html

Virginia Tragedy and Injuries

"Pray for Governor of Virginia Terry McAuliffe, law enforcement, and everyone struggling to deal with the chaos and violence that reared its ugly head in Charlottesville today. It is such a tragedy—life was lost and many people were injured. Violence and hatred aren’t the answer. God’s Word tells us, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice” (Ephesians 4:31). Join me in praying for the injured, the families of those who died—and for peace to be restored."

Major Harry L. - Officers Prayer

Greetings from our Officer Care and Development Department. As I write this, I remember our visit with you folk during an Officer Councils. It was so enriching to listen to not only your words, but the passion of your hearts for ministry. You are both truly servants of our servant Lord, and know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that you have been called by God to do ministry in His name and for His glory. I want to encourage you today as you continue to shepherd God’s people in Hilo. God is faithful, and whatever concerns weigh upon your hearts today, He will see you through them. The words of the chorus are so true: “God will make a way where there seems to be no way.” I pray God’s blessing of peace, hope, and joy upon your lives, and all you do for Him. I pray for the anointing of His Holy Spirit and for you to always be conduits of His grace and forgiveness. People really do need the Lord, and He has placed you in Hilo for such a time as this. Here are some Scriptural blessings from the Lord for you today: Oh, love the Lord, all you His saints! For the Lord preserves the faithful, . . .Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord (Psalm 31:23-24). Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord! Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord! (Psalm 27:14) “Therefore I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.” (Micah 7:7) THE MESSAGE: “But me, I’m not giving up. I’m sticking around to see what God will do. I’m waiting for God to make things right. I’m counting on God to listen to me.” (Micah 7:7) “Therefore I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.” (Micah 7:7) God bless you richly. Marina sends her warmest greetings. If we can pray for anything specific for yourselves or your ministry, it would be our privilege and honor to do so.

He loved his family, I loved to watch him interact with his  Grandsons, Georgie and Gabriel at the shop. His smile and his love for them would just radiate around them. We had many conversations about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and we prayed many times together. Heaven gained another Angel today. Continued prayers for family and friends and for justice for those responsible."

Elaine M. - Relationships

As you begin your day will you pray with me?

My heart aches at the number of unique things that keep occurring and the challenges trying to assist.  People are hurting.

My heart aches at those who continue to show unkindness.  Please try love.  Even if you don't care for someone, the Bible is clear, love everyone.  There are many hurting people out there.  Don't hurt them more.

I pray as I prepare to leave on furlough that the love of Christ can take over this community and yours.  That may it be today that joy is found in everyone's hearts and the fruit of the spirit dumps out to others.

It has been one thing after another since right before commissioning.  I keep praying.  I keep loving.  I'm too optimistic to give up but I will be honest, I'm feeling pretty beat up.

Join me in prayer.  Join me in kindness.  Join me in love.

Think about the way you treat people.  It makes a difference.

Matt 22:37-39
Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'  38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

Rogrr M. - friends surgery

"Pray for my friend Terry. Emergency surgery on a blood clot in his spine."

Michael M.- Serving in Israel

"Friends, it's hard to admit you need help some times, but I could use your prayers, if you are willing.

I love living in Israel (I can not stress that enough) and I am so glad God has allowed me to be here, but I am worried/wondering about life direction...the future, what decisions (if any) I should be making right now, and so forth.

I know that might sound trivial to some, but it is weighing on me.

Ultimately, I want to live for God's glory and the Kingdom (the things and values that matter most to Him)...but some times I struggle with how to do that.

Does God want me to be here in Israel? Will He let me stay long-term? Do I need to be "practical" and move back to the States to pursue a career that will allow me to be financially responsible and raise a family one day? Do I need to have more "faith" and wait on God? Do I have responsibilities to my existing family (Mom, sister, world's cutest and best nephew!!!! who doesn't have a dad in the picture) and should I be there for them? Do I need to be proactive and already start thinking about my own future family and their needs?

I have A LOT of questions (many more than are listed here) that I wonder about...but, I am just struggling in general, and have been for a while.

So, if you are inclined, I would love it if you would talk to the Lord about these things, for me. He already knows my thoughts and needs because we talk about them all the time, but some times you need community behind you (or at least it feels good to have one behind you) ...and I think I could really use one, being so far away from home.

So, I said it. I need help. Would you pray for/with me?

P.S. For any one that sees my pictures and thinks my life is AMAZING in Israel...it is in fact amazing and I do thank God for it...but it is also REALLY HARD. Life in Israel is not always glamorous. Spiritually, it can be really draining. Financially, it is hard to make it. Communally, it can be hard to connect and make long-term friends because people are always moving in and out of the country/area. So, I am glad if you like my photos and my posts are encouraging to you, but please know it is also hard here (but then again, I am sure it is that way for you in your life too)."

Fred M. - Member of Ohana PTM

May God comfort this family during this time of grief. Praise the Lord that many people came to the funeral.

Elaine M.- God's Comfort

"Honesty post. I'm an emotional mess today and wanted to stay in bed.  What do you do when the pastor needs a pastor?  Turn the music on loud.  Pray you don't burst into tears.  Some anniversaries are hard especially with no family around and you are already tapped out.  The Starbucks waiting for me on my desk from Lt. Jenn brought a smile.  Stink so much for the tears.  Ok focus Elaine.  Focus.  There is stuff to do."

Geola C. - dad's PTM

"My Dad passed away this morning at 9:50am at Hilo Medical Center.  He was in a lot of pain these past 2 days, the cancer spread throughout his whole body.  God in ALL His Grace and Mercy took my Dad home peacefully.  When I say home I mean with Jesus, because just the night before he said the sinners prayer again, asked Jesus to forgive him and made his peace. God is Good and instead of letting him suffer for a long time, the most painful lasted a day and a half!"

"Yes!! My life is in the hands of the Lord. Yes!! My life is in the hands of the Lord. In the I will always trust and never hesitate. Yes, yes!! My life is in the hands of the Lord. Yesterday I had a terrible fall that I took my wife to the emergency room at hospital in Visalia CA. Where I stayed 4 hours, thank God, there's no broken bones, but if the doctor finds that there is damage on the left shoulder where I had a significant surgery for several years now. The doctor ordered an MRI, and turn to draw attention with the doctor who cares for me. We had the frozen chickens to distribute to the community and after I've filled 5 Large Bricket, I began to smash it with your feet and throw in the dumpster, a considerable amount of the empty boxes. The boxes slipped, fell, hit my head on the wall of the building, my body fell horizontally on my shoulder surgery and I can't remember anymore,..... my wife has left the building to bring me water to drink and there found me down and treating me of Lift, but the pain wouldn't let me. Looks like the devil no longer knows more like attack us, and this attempt on our physical health. On this day, I proclaim victory!! Over the enemy that has already been destroyed by my Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for your prayers in this process, God bless you."

National Day of Prayer Proclamation

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, 2017

- - - - -

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

We come together on our National Day of Prayer as one Nation, under God, to show gratitude for our many blessings, to give thanks for His providence, and to ask for His continued wisdom, strength, and protection as we chart a course for the future.  We are united in prayer, each according to our own faith and tradition, and we believe that in America, people of all faiths, creeds, and religions must be free to exercise their natural right to worship according to their consciences.

We are also reminded and reaffirm that all human beings have the right, not only to pray and worship according to their consciences, but to practice their faith in their homes, schools, charities, and businesses    in private and in the public square    free from government coercion, discrimination, or persecution.  Religion is not merely an intellectual exercise, but also a practical one that demands action in the world.  Even the many prisoners around the world who are persecuted for their faith can pray privately in their cells.  But our Constitution demands more:  the freedom to practice one's faith publicly.

The religious liberty guaranteed by the Constitution is not a favor from the government, but a natural right bestowed by God.  Our Constitution and our laws that protect religious freedom merely recognize the right that all people have by virtue of their humanity.  As Thomas Jefferson wisely questioned:  "can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God?"

In 1789, President George Washington proclaimed a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, calling upon Americans to "unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations."  In 1988, the Congress, by Public Law 100-307, called on the President to issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a "National Day of Prayer."  On this National Day of Prayer, the right to pray freely and live according to one's faith is under threat around the world from coercive governments and terrorist organizations.  We therefore pray especially for the many people around the world who are persecuted for their beliefs and deprived of their fundamental liberty to live according to their conscience.  We pray for the triumph of freedom over oppression, and for God's love and mercy over evil.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 4, 2017, as a National Day of Prayer.  I invite the citizens of our Nation to pray, in accordance with their own faiths and consciences, in thanksgiving for the freedoms and blessings we have received, and for God's guidance and continued protection as we meet the challenges before us.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fourth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand seventeen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-first.

DONALD J. TRUMP
