The Salvation Army Call to Prayer for
September 9, 2010
“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18
Two issues being given media attention today, ought to be in our prayers:
First, is the proposal to build a sprawling casino within six blocks of the hallowed battlefield of Gettysburg. The issue is not gambling, as much as whether it is appropriate to permit the gaudy and lurid neon glow of such an establishment to be cast across the hallowed ground of Gettysburg.
Second,is the proposal to build a Mosque within two blocks of Ground Zero in New York. This issue too, is about sensitivity, dignity, and solemnity of the placing a building in a highly sensitive location.
As you seek God today:
1.Pray for our President, and our country’s leaders give them wisdom and sensitivity. And pray for the protection of our military men and women and their families as they serve the cause of freedom. Keep them safe and bring them home.
2.Pray for our Salvation Army Leaders: General Shaw and Commissioner Helen Clifton, International and National Leaders, our Western Territorial leaders, Commissioners James and Carolyn Knaggs, Colonels William and Susan Harfoot, the THQ Cabinet and Staff, Divisional Leaders, ARC Officers, your Corps Officers, the Cadets and our Employees.
3.Pray for Colonel Bill Harfoot, recovering from surgery; Major Frank Severs,’doing better”; Lt Colonel Shawn Posillico, surgery;Major Trudy Freeman surgery;the family of Major C. Joe Murray who lost his niece in a fire; for healing for Kimberly, in Australia, daughter of Lt. Colonels Pam and Ron Strickland, receiving chemo treatment; Pray for 12 year old Anthony Ray Covarrubias Noriega, being treated for seizures; Pray for a kidney donor for Claire Woods, Hawaii Advisory Board; pray for Captain Les Spousta’s dad and family; Pray for Major Ruth Scott’s father; for Sherry; for Chris’s grandmother; for Linda, tumor surgery; for Judy, radiation treatment; for Major Jeanin Hartt’s mother, Ruby healing of her eye; for Suzie, Major Harts daughter in hospital with blood infections; for Clarence White.,
4.Pray for the whole ARC Program, including Administrative staff, employees, beneficiaries, volunteers, donors and shoppers that God will bless.
5.Pray for Nancy Steriotis, God’s healing and comforting, For Major Ivy Hood, for Major Doug Riley, successful chemo treatments; for Rex K.C. treatment for prostate cancer; Paul with heart and breathing problems; Gary, Cancer; Colleen, breathing problems; Ed, Chemo; Fred, Prostrate cancer, Priscilla’s mother; Jane Brown; Larry and Daniel Halverson; Barbara Johnson of Sedona; Greg Klotz; Mary Kyle; for Dave Marquez; for Sarah; Gail Stewart; Majors John & Patricia Rhemick’s daughter, Kathleen Wreath; Yvonne and Paul Meadows; wisdom and peace.
6.Pray for healing for Laura’s son Chad, his body is rejecting the new liver transplant. May God give His comfort at this time of loss.
