Peggy H. - The General’s Health
From General Lyndon Buckingham
“By now, many will have heard that I had a medical incident whilst celebrating the 95th anniversary with Hong Kong salvationists.
I was admitted to hospital where I received excellent intervention and treatment, in the form of heart angioplasty to clear a blocked artery.
I have responded to this procedure well and am expected to make a full recovery.
I have been discharged from hospital and am now resting, awaiting a follow up consultation with the cardiologist next Monday.
Bronwyn and I express our heartfelt gratitude for the many prayers and messages of support we have received since Saturday.
Our thanks to Territorial Leaders, Colonels Phil and Deslea Maxwell for their tremendous care and support.
We feel wrapped in the love of the global Salvation Army and give thanks to God for His providential care 🙏”

Alaska Typhoon

Whoa🤯😢, typhoon Halong has devastated parts of western Alaska. The entire villages of Kipnuk and Kwigillingok have been evacuated, in the one of the biggest airlift evacuations in the states history. All homes in those villages are deemed unlivable, homes were literally floating away. I couldn’t even imagine.

Franklin Graham - Terrorists in England
Pray for Manchester, England. There was a terrorist attack this morning at a synagogue on Yom Kippur. Two people were killed in the car ramming and stabbing rampage, and three others were seriously hurt. We have deployed crisis-trained chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team to minister in this shocked and grieving community. I am also scheduled to preach there in October of next year. Hatred for the Jewish people is a cancerous rot. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said, "Antisemitism is a hatred that is rising, once again. Britain must defeat it, once again." Pray for the families who lost loved ones and for the injured.

THQ West - Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery
As you know, The Salvation Army is deeply committed to fighting and responding to human trafficking! We believe prayer is foundational and an essential, powerful tool for fighting for freedom and working towards a world free from exploitation. Every year a Sunday in September is set aside as the ‘International Day of Prayer for Victims of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking’ and provides an important focal point for prayer to support people caught up in slavery and those working with the victims.
This year’s theme is ‘Light to Life’, inspired by Exodus 3:2 NIV: ‘There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within the bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire, it did not burn up.’
Resources: ‘Light to Life’ themed resources, including sermons, bible studies, prayer stations, etc., are available in English with French, Hindi, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili (and Tamil to follow) and may be downloaded here: https://sar.my/light-to-life

CBN - Nigerian Christians Persecution
Life is fragile and dangerous for Christians living in the northern and Middle Belt regions of Nigeria. They face violence that often leads to death, the destruction of their homes, villages and places of worship. Ultimately, they are forced to flee from the danger which creates mass displacement for tens of thousands.
It is a growing crisis that involves more than three million Christians who are being persecuted because of their faith. Islamic terror groups are behind the vicious attacks and the Nigerian government appears to be doing very little to stop the brutality. Making matters worse, recent studies on persecution show the atrocities committed in Nigeria account for nearly 70 percent of all Christians killed globally.

On the Passing of the Honorable Joseph J. Urusemal
It is with deep respect and profound sadness, that the Federated States of Micronesia announces the passing of the Honorable Joseph J. Urusemal, Sixth President of the Federated States of Micronesia, who passed away on September 16, 2025, in the Republic of Palau.
Born on March 19, 1952, on Woleai in the State of Yap, President Urusemal dedicated his life to public service, education, and the advancement of our nation. After completing his early schooling on Woleai and graduating from Xavier High School in Chuuk, he pursued higher education at Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Administration of Justice in 1976. He went on to work in the United States before returning home in 1982 to serve as a teacher and counselor at the Yap State Department of Education, where he contributed significantly to the Yap State Education Plan.
In 1987, he was elected as the State of Yap’s at-large representative to the Fifth Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia, a position he held with distinction for many years. Known for his humility, strong principles, and commitment to traditional values, he served as Floor Leader for twelve years before being elected the Sixth President of the Federated States of Micronesia, serving from May 11, 2003, to 2007.
Following his presidency, he continued his service in Congress, most recently as Chairman of the Committee on Education and the Yap Congressional Delegation. Throughout his career, he was a member of several key congressional committees, including Ways and Means, Health and Social Affairs, and Transportation and Communication. His leadership and vision helped guide the Nation’s development while remaining grounded in respect for culture, education, and the sustainable use of our limited resources.
President Urusemal is remembered as a soft-spoken but resolute leader, a devoted husband to Olania Latileilam of Satawal, and a loving father to their four children: B.J., Tarsis, Craig, and Elenita.
The Federated States of Micronesia mourns the loss of a great leader, statesman, and son of our islands. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, the people of Yap, and all who were touched by his life and service.

Amy M. - Jaylyn’s Update
Day 44 9/16: We wanted to take a moment to update everyone who has been so kind to check in, pray, and send love to our family. Your support has meant more than words can express during this incredibly difficult time.
Jaylyn remains in ICU on life support. She recently had a shunt placed to help drain the excess fluid on her brain. Unfortunately, she hasn’t been very responsive since the procedure. The doctors have told us that at this point, it’s a matter of waiting — only time will tell how her body responds and whether the fluid decreases.
There are no easy answers, and every day feels like a rollercoaster. But through it all, we’re holding tightly to faith, hope, and strength — for Jaylyn, for each other, and for whatever comes next. Watching someone you love go through something like this is heartbreaking, but we believe in her strength and in the power of prayer.
Please continue to keep Jaylyn in your thoughts and prayers. We’re so grateful for this community of love around us — even on the hardest days, we feel it. 💜
Thank you to everyone who have been there for us, for those who have shown up to visit (even just for hugs) We greatly appreciate you all! 💞

Debbie D. - Kevin Nagasaki

This morning I have heard of the passing of a dear friend Kevin Nagasaki and I am broken-hearted. He lived his life with a Christ-like heart and will be sorely missed by the many he served, tirelessly and joyfully. He and his wife Vidella served as the Corp Officers at the Salvation Army Lahaina Corps. When I first heard of the fire I asked if anyone knew if they were safe and I was told although they had lost their home and the corps building that they were safe and serving meals to the people in the shelters that were forming for the people who had fled from the fire. Kevin was a blessing to so many people. Always there to help with whatever was needed. I know he is in Glory with Our Lord and that it will be a joyful reunion when it is my time to join him. God bless you Kevin and God please comfort and bless Vidella and all who love him. Well done faithful servant of God.

Franklin G. - Charlie Kirk RIP
What a tragedy. It has been announced that Charlie Kirk has died after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University today. This young man loved his country and invested his time and energy in trying to make it the best it could be. He stood boldly for conservative values and defended free speech for all of us. Most importantly, Charlie loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for his wife Erika, their two young children, and all of their family. It’s in these moments of darkness that we need to stand on the Scripture that Erika shared on social media, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
Kathryn O. - Vehicle Accident

Well today definitely could’ve gone very differently for me than it did. I’m grateful I walked away from this accident with just some bumps and bruises. I was hit by an intoxicated driver who lost control of their car and came three lanes over to me on my way to band practice tonight. I’m extremely grateful for the safety features of my car and to this beast of a vehicle that barely budged when hit by a vehicle going 60+mph. I will forever be driving a Subaru.

Dear God,
When life feels overwhelming, help me remember that my strength is found in You. Remind me that I don’t have to carry my burdens alone, because You walk beside me and give me peace in the middle of the storm. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Help me rest in Your presence today, trusting that You care deeply for me. Fill me with hope that steadies my heart and courage to face whatever comes. Let my life reflect confidence in Your goodness so others may see Your love through me.
In Jesus’ name, amen. 🙏

Amber O. - Schoolwork
I am asking for prayer, it is inevitable, I have to get my hours done (and no season as an officer is ideal) so we might as well just get’er done. This marks the finishing of my third social practice which now starts my field placement for my BSW. This requirement over the next six months is for me to complete 400 hours as an intern, plus any of the schoolwork that goes along with it. This averages to about 17 hours a week, some weeks I can do more, which would allow me to do less during other weeks. I am an anxious person and I’m freaking out.

Amy M. - Jaylynn’s Update
Day 15 8/19: Today we had a few set backs from our recovery plan. She was suppose to get her EVD (External Ventricular Drain) removed but due to excessive swelling underneath the skull, another CT scan will be done tomorrow to try and figure out the cause. That also pushed back the plans to have the staples removed. But with all of today’s setbacks, we will take the best win of the day. Even though she has the trach, she was weaned off the breathing machine today, and is breathing on her own! YAHHHH!!! Because she is still not coherent/ awake she’s breathing through the trech tube!
So proud of her and all her progress! #Jaylynstrong #jaylynshealingjourney #everydaystronger

Melissa A. - Friend Harold’s Health

Help Harold Fight Liver Failure
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I never imagined I’d find myself in this situation, but I’ve recently been diagnosed with end-stage (N stage) liver failure—a life-threatening condition that has completely turned my world upside down. This diagnosis has come with overwhelming emotional and physical challenges, and now, mounting medical bills are adding a financial burden I can no longer manage alone.
I’m currently undergoing intensive treatment and frequent hospital visits, with the possibility of a liver transplant looming ahead. Every test, medication, and hospital stay brings hope—but also rising expenses that insurance doesn’t fully cover. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward covering my medical bills, hospital stays, treatment costs, and any future procedures necessary to keep me fighting.
I’m reaching out with humility and hope, asking for any support you can give—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this campaign with others. Every little bit helps and means the world to me and my loved ones. Thank you for standing with me in this battle. Your kindness and generosity are truly a lifeline during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Harold “HD” Simon

Randy S. - Pastor’s Health/Peace
Dear friends & family, I’m reaching out with a tender heart today. What I’m about to share is sacred, and I trust you’ll hold it in prayer and love. This isn’t just news, it’s a call for us to stand together, to surround Pastor Dennis and Desa with the presence of Jesus in these precious moments.
I just received a call from Desa about Pastor Dennis. With a heavy heart, I need to share that he’s in the final stages of his journey here on earth. The hospice nurse says it could be just a couple of hours, or maybe a couple of days.
Let’s surround them with the kind of love that heaven recognizes, lifting them up before the throne of grace with compassion, mercy, and faith.
Heavenly Father, we lift up Pastor Dennis and Desa to You right now. We thank You for the life, the love, and the ministry that has touched so many. Wrap them in Your peace that passes all understanding. Let Dennis feel Your presence and hear heaven’s welcome, and let Desa feel the arms of the Comforter around her. We trust You in this sacred moment, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
We declare that Pastor Dennis is surrounded by the love of God, the prayers of the saints, and the peace of Christ that cannot be shaken. Whether in life or in glory, he is in the hands of the Good Shepherd, and those hands never let go.
Pastor Sheryl and I love each and everyone of you. 🙏🏽❤️

Arnulfo’s Family
Please lift up Arnulfo and his family in your prayers. Arnulfo and his wife Cynthia are going through a hard time. They have a baby boy (Alonzo - 9months) who is in Cynthia’s care. May Alonzo continue to grow healthy and in God’s protection.
Amy M. - Update

Todays prayer card day 7: We had a few set backs with her developing pneumonia. But as I was getting ready to leave the hospital (her dad and I switch off staying the night with her) Leaving her is always the hardest part of the day! Her machines started beeping with her oxygen dropping a bit, I paused and waited for the nurse to arrive. While we were still with her the nurse did her hourly stimulant test. I figured Gisella Gonzales and I would stay a few minutes past the visitors hours to see how she react. While doing her stimulation exercises she opened her eyes a bit longer then usual and fluttered her beautiful eyelashes at us. I see you baby girl!!🥰
Every little tiny extra movement, we will take as a WIN! Keep FIGHTING BABY GIRL!!! #jaylynstrong #jaylynshealingjourney #strongereveryday
