TSA Western Territory Prayer Requests

CALL TO PRAYER
The Salvation Army Call to Prayer line for August 7, 2008. Please pray for the following prayer needs this week:

1. Pray for the safety and health of all the athletes, observers, personnel and workers in the massive Olympic effort- that there will be no terrorist attacks of any kind and that the spirit of peace will prevail. Pray for all those seeking to evangelize during the Games.

2 . Pray for President and Mrs Bush as they visit to the Olympic Games and Chinese President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao, and the Vice President of China, Xi Jinping, in addition to partipating in worship services on Sunday, 8/10.

3. Pray for professing Christians who will compete in the Olympic Games that they will be protected, strengthened and used to glorify Jesus throughout the games.

4. Give thanks for the service and sacrifice of the nine firefighters killed Tuesday when their helicopter crashed in a remote area near Redding, CA. Pray for a speedy recovery of those injured and for comfort and strength for loved ones of those who lost their lives..
5. Pray for our troops as they serve at home and abroad. Pray for their well-being and for God’s continual protection and care. And pray for their families and loved ones.

6. Pray for the two Presidential candidates, John McCain and Barack Obama. May the Lord give them wisdom and grace for their campaigns. May God reveal His Will for the next President of our country.

7. Pray for our Salvation Army leaders: General Shaw Clifton, Commissioner Helen Clifton, Commissioners Israel and Eva Gaither, Commissioners Philip and Pat Swyers, Lt. Colonels William and Susan Harfoot, the THQ Cabinet and staff, and each Divisional Leader.

8. Pray for all Salvation Army Officers and laymen serving outside of their home Territory. Pray for their safety, their health and their ministries for Jesus.

9. Pray for the men and women entering the Training School this month to follow God’s Call for full-time service as Salvation Army officers!

10. Pray the protection of thousands of innocent children living in troubled parts of the world. Pray for the victims of human trafficking and the sex trade in the world.

11. Pray for Golden State Divisional Mission Team who are in Kenya. Pray for their safety and health and that they will be a blessing to those they are serving in Kenya.


12. Pray the following who are in need our prayers: Commissioner David Edwards, recovering from surgery; Mrs. Brigadier Eloise Sloan, who has not been well; Mrs. Major Edna Steinhauer, in hospital in Mesa, AZ; Major Robert Smith, receiving treatment after surgery; Buddy and Kathy and their daughter L. A.; Major Kay Stoops, pacemaker surgery; Envoy James Mertz, who suffered a major heart attack; Glen Lycan, in intensive care; Major Shirley White, recovering from surgery; Isobel Doctor in hospital with a kidney infections; Major Ed Covert, healing after surgery; Major Floyd Bacon, in hospital; Luetta Pedersen; three year old Tanner; Greg Hoogstad for Major Geraldine Leonard ,in hospital; for James; Ken Scheline, for healing; for Major Tom Elliott; for Major Dee Webb; for Raquel; A/ Captain Royce Bynum; Marvinne; Major Wilson Urbien; Shirley, a rheumatoid flare-up; Rachel, heart problems; Ralph Krause; Captain Jack Smith’s mother, a blood infection; Major Verna Hughes, healing; Joe Baunoch, back surgery;

13. Pray for: Jim and Susan Spencer; Major Jerold Forney; Brigadier Isabelle Boyington; Majors Don and Pearl Pack; Marie Desiderio; 9 year old Ruben Solano, brain tumor; Maddie; Dom and Esther; Brigadier Ben Acosta; Major Vera Elliot; Majors Don and Pearl Pack; Major Sherry McWhorter; A/Captain Elsie Lantz; Mrs. Major Manuela Garza, kidney dialysis; Debbie, her sister, Wendy, daughter, Jenna, and for her mother.

14. Pray for: ARC beneficiaries and staff that they will sense the healing of God and experience the “Miracle” of His Grace and healing. Pray for: Yvonne, hip fracture; Mimi; Donald and Mary Morrell; Robin Bailey; Barbara Garrison; Captain Dana Johnson; Major Charles and Myrtle Griffin; Brigadier Margaret Laverty; Brigadier Martha Hansen; and other retired officers who have not been well.

15. Pray those being treated for cancer: Jennie Torgeson’s daughter, Karen; Lynn Peterson, friend of Deb Oberhamer; B/M Jim Anderson; Mrs. Lt. Colonel Oloruntobe, of Lagos, Nairobi; Barbara’s granddaughter, breast cancer; Major Max Garza, lung cancer; Dale Hill Jr., brain tumor; Colonel Diane Hogan; Lt. Colonel April Strickland; David; Karen Imai; Major Dallas Pedersen; Eileen O'Brien; Jacob Galland; Major Bill Dickinson; Major Sheila Bradley; Mrs. Captain Sylvia Waldron; Dick Youngworth; Sue Ellen's Mom; for Dick Wiseman; and others. Pray for faith, good medical care; and healing miracles!

16. Pray for the family and friends of those recently Promoted to Glory; Jessie Franciscs, grandmother of Captain Christine Smith. May God give His comforting presence to each family member and loved one.

17. Pray for the young adults at the two Territorial Youth Institutes in August: Western Music Institute Aug 7-16 and Western Youth Institute August 9-16. May God inspire, and challenge our youth as they learn to share the news of Jesus!

18. Pray daily for the 24-7 Prayer initiative in the territory!

19. General Shaw Clifton has issued two calls to prayer for Salvationists around the world:
September 21: CALL TO PRAYER FOR PEACE. (International Day of Peace)
September 28 CALL TO PRAYER FOR VICTIMS OF SEX TRADE TRAFFICKING.
