Territorial: October Prayers Focus

Prayer Focus – 02- 08 October 2023
India South Western Territory

Territorial Leaders:  Colonels John William and Ratna Sundari Polimetla

Prayer requests:

Points to praise God

The Territory has new leadership since May 2023 – Colonel John William and Colonel Ratna Sundari Polimetla

IFAS training in different levels, conducted by IHQ and implemented in the Territory.

Conference of Senior Leaders held 04 & 05 July 2023, enabled new leadership to understand better of the territory.

Territorial Leaders undertook forty days of journey, visiting officers, soldiers and people in 310 corps, planting coconut saplings, wherever possible.

Territorial concerns for prayer

Movement of Officers, including Section Heads and senior leaders, to settle down to focus on goals and objectives already in place.

Self-Denial efforts have begun that funds would come as prayed and planned throughout the territory.

Better functioning of Governance system, by adhering to the regulations of committees and Councils, approved by THQ.

The training session for “Defenders of Justice” is progressing now on online mode and second year cadets visit college only for a week for special classes and examinations.

There will be no training session next year, due to no candidates prepared for training and territory tries hard to have candidates for 2025 session.

The health issues of both active and retired officers, that they continue to live healthy and serve as much as they can.

Caste system is alive still, though we try various ways to mitigate and eliminate. This brings a huge negative impact for administration in all levels of our ministry.
Projects have not been completed, due to issues related to obtaining Government permission for constructions.

Training for Corps Helpers who need Salvation Army discipline in worship, uniform wearing, sacramental teaching, orders and regulations.

To utilize the assets of the Army and to reduce risks that we maintain the reputation of the Army.

More evangelical campaigns to strengthen the corps and to plant more Corps for which Evangelist and Corps Growth officer is appointed.

Financial Training to happen shortly to teach corps officers and institutional officer how to handle cash books and adhere to Government compliances with FCRA regulation.

New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa Territory

Territorial Leaders:  Commissioners Mark and Julie Campbell

 We thank God
For the 130 Children and Youth workers from around the Territory who met for the MORE Conference in July. We believe that this will have a great impact on our ministry to NextGen in the coming years.

For our Praying Together initiative which has seen hundreds of people from all over the four nations join online for prayer.

For the stories of lives transformed and people coming to faith in Christ Jesus that we hear about each week

We ask God
To do more than we could ever dream or imagine as we partner with him in our three areas of focus:
o Increasing our Mission impact
o Being a great place for People to belong, work, worship and serve
o Long-term Sustainability

To take us deeper in our journey with him. For spiritual growth, deeper discipleship, people committing themselves to soldiership and officership.

New Zealand
Praise
For the life-giving and life-changing events held in New Zealand over the last few months. This has included Delve – a weekend for soldiers to explore their calling into leadership and officership, Brengle Holiness Institute and a combined Officer’s Fellowship for New Zealand Officers.
Prayer
That as we step into a season of structural and process changes that there will be an increased focus and effectiveness in our Mission.
For our people as we journey through change together, including officers under appointment changes.

Fiji
Praise
For the amazing initiative of the 50th Anniversary Flag Tour and the Community Projects that are happening. Just like the lead up to the Olympic Games there is a torch that is passed around the country, Fiji are taking the Army flag from corps to corps leading up to their 50th Anniversary Celebrations. As part of this each corps has worked on a project to benefit their community (See Facebook – Salvation Army Fiji 50th Anniversary for pictures and information)

Recently close to 750 children met across Fiji to learn about God through Camp in a Box. Children joined together at their local corps and participated in games and teaching provided by the Divisional Children’s team.

Prayer
Plans and preparation for the General’s visit in December to celebrate 50 years of The Salvation Army in Fiji. This will be attended by officers and some soldiers from Tonga and Samoa also.

That the focus provided by the 50th Celebrations will bring a fervour and excitement for reimagined mission in Fiji that will see more people come to Christ.

Tonga
Praise
For lives changed from the 10 day “Man Up” Camp being held in Vava’u in August. The men had to travel 24 hours by boat to get to Vava’u and 24 hours back again but were still able to enjoy rich fellowship and deep spiritual teaching about what it means to be a godly man of faith in todays world.

Prayer
That the regional theme of “Reset”, and the Corps Action Plans will see greater mission impact throughout Tonga.

For ongoing funding for the Alcohol and Drug Services which is so vital to the Region

Samoa
Praise
For the opening of the new facilities in Apia and the positive impact that has had on the congregation and the local community.

For the group of up to 40 children and adults who meet weekly to faithfully pray for their corps and their nation.
